I am glad you guys are happy with openweb, however, i am not the first to complain about openweb's bad advertising practices. If you advertise something and its subject to terms and conditions, should should state that on the ad. That was why i posted this. Please follow the link and look at the ad for yourself and tell me that im wrong. Yes I did get my port reset etc and compared with my existing Telkom account 5 times. Telkom was always faster. I did the ping tests speed tests and everything. I understand fully what causes these issues but the point is that i did not get what was advertised to me. Furthermore I did not get a copy of the adsl month to month contract and was not provided with one when i asked for it. Everyone can say their ISP is better but that was not the issue here.

1) Complete Ts&Cs are not required to form a part of an advertisement. Stop talking schit.
2) You never once attempted to have your issue rectified by Openweb. You didn't even contact them.
3) Your "contract" was a part of the terms that you signed when you signed up. If you chose not to read them, then you're simply ranting off based on your own laziness or stupidity.
4) You asked people to follow the link and look at the ad. I did, and yes, you're wrong...

I had a mweb account before i moved to ct and didn't have any issues. I was going to go with them again if it were not the ad i saw. I expected it to be faster than Telkom with less lag and it was not. I'm not going to try and get this fixed now as i have already put in a cancellation and have to pay for this month and for December even thou i didn't get what was advertised. If this was not a service and physical product that didn't do what was advertised you would return it if it didn't work properly.

That should have been your first port of call. Instead you hop on a rampage like a teenager with a broken pregnancy test. I doubt anyone is going to give your walls of text more than a cursory glance. You had slightly higher pings and didn't bother to even try to let Openweb fix it for you.

That's just you being an idiot. You're ranting about your own stupidity. Put down the dictionary and step away from the keyboard...

Good luck with that. The throttle bug will bite you:whistling:

I have the same account as you on a 4meg ... And I had the same issue as you. I had a chat with Leon at OW, he gave me new account and problem solved. I will admit that game lag is an issue during the day too, but this was on the cheapest account I could get. I have been advised to go to a different account, and will do so after the Telkom upgrades are done.

Maybe TI is the best for you. And our OW bandwidth :p

As for cancellation .... MWEB takes the prize when it comes to cancellation issues, you give a months notice and get charged for the next few months because of "advanced billing".

Maybe PM Mr.Beep or email OW to find a solution .... Trust me when I say I am a b1tchy customer ...but OW has been good to me ..... Especially the after hours and weekend bandwidth ...ECSTACY:D

Either way good luck, let us know how things work out.

He sounds like a committed ANC supporter. Once a comrade, nothing on this earth will make him change his mind.

What do we want from our ISP? Good value for money comes tops, but due to the many players in the route between the ISP and your router, you won't always achieve 100% results. This month it might be MWEB, next Cybersmart, next Telkom and so on.

I noticed that you are also in cape town. Maybe there is an issue for users this side? I stand to be corrected

Openweb could have alerted you if there was. Instead they haven't the foggiest that you even had a problem, but are subjected to false accusations and bullschit spewed from a place of complete ignoramity...

Got a new account from Mr Beep, that was quick, will try tonight and see how it goes...

I must point out that when i did log a cancellation request stating that the speed was not what I expected, i was not offered a solution and instead got a confirmation for the cancellation and slapped with the cancellation terms and conditions which threw me off. I hope this works out.

I hope you got a port reset for your Telkom line (phone 10210)...because if your Telkom account was giving you bad lag and now OpenWeb, then is should say something. When I'm not downloading anything in the background I get a very constant ping to online games, usually ranges within about 3 - 4ms...

But see how the new account goes ;) I've been all over and OpenWeb is my first choice out of the other 4 service providers I've tried... I hope you get it sorted. If it's still not sorted out with a new account, then try resetting your port with Telkom, even if they say your line is fine. If that doesn't work, contact OpenWeb support via email - they always respond very quickly and are helpful!

Yep you tend to get a cancellation confirmation when you cancel. For a solution a support ticket would have been more appropriate.
