We're interested in using OpenWeb's uncapped ADSL (1 Mbps) for an office of 10 people.

I'd like to hear from people that have used this service. General email/web/im usage, pings, performance day vs night, p2p/torrents, reliability, support etc. How much have you actually transferred per month on average?

MrBeep has been kind enough to offer me a 48 trial next week (for some reason next week?!) which is neat.

On the flip side for R2,200 we can get around 35-40 GB from the typical ISP. The capped will be at "up to" 4 Mbps whereas the uncapped will be at 1 Mbps.

48 day trial sounds good - go for it.

And hammer it while you can... to test it properly, mind ;)

We're also running uncapped adsl with static IP for mails, and so far never had any serious problems except when it's cloudy in the satellite area... (we have international sat and not fibre).

Compare your pricing between different ISP's.. since there are only 2 players in the market.

Most Uncapped ADSL lines are supplied from either Internet Solutions or MTN, so no matter who you get it from its still the same service...

Always good to Shop Around...

Not that that would necessarily make it any better? I believe the OP was requesting input regarding the OpenWeb 1024k product and not the input from an XDSL advertiser.

Works very well for me, p2p/torrents seem to be shaped during business hours but after hours they're fine. Openweb support is great. Last time I checked my transfer I think it was 180GB, and that's without even really trying. :D

xdsluser - not to be funny. but when are you going to have a nice xdsl website with lots of details !!!

come one very easy to do web ;)

...still no real info on your 512k fiber connection.

what is allowed ?

what is not allowed ?

Biometrics: Do you have any idea on what your usage would be? If it's in the 35 - 40 GB region, then I'm sure that the extra 3mb would be beneficial to 10 users?

Maybe go uncapped in the beginning, and see what your usage is.

Cheers, Nick

For HTTP, I always get close to 4MB/s on OpenWeb 1024 uncapped.

Could get up-to 4MB/s on other protocols.

This week, however, it appears that all p2p protocols have been shaped.

IS say they are not shaping, but there is no other reasonable explanation for the sudden death in all p2p speeds. (HTTP is still fine)

Fortunately there is life beyond p2p, so I'm still enjoying the service.

Shocking service (or NON service) from ODS

Hi All

I gave ODS a call just now to get more info on one of their products and I could not believe after holding on for 10 minutes (I checked the time on the phone LCD screen) that the call eventually just cut.

Shocking I tell you...

Apparently IS do shape when the network load reaches a certain threshold.
