Openweb Uncapped Feedback

For me it's not about how much i can get, it's the reliability. And thats why i pay a higher price, just for the reliability factor. I don't track my usage, but i am sure i am very low in terms of a 4meg account, however, when i need the performance (browsing and gaming) it's there. I was on previous accounts at other ISP's, but i have found my ISP home at Openweb. It's been brilliant since i signed up, also due mainly to the excellent support.

Same for me - I want the performance when I need it - with regards to usage, some months will obviously be higher than others... but I don't want to get to my PC, need a 2GB file and then it sits there at 30KB/s because its daytime.

...and Openweb Gold seems to offer just what I need, despite a hiccup every now and then.

Is the IS problem still ongoing? Getting about half my usual speed

Disappointed at being throttled at 8KB/s on certain http downloads on VB gold 384. Anyone else with similar issues?

Nevermind the half speed I mentioned earlier. Getting between 2-6kbs on torrents on IS atm

I'm having serious issues deciding what to do here.... MrBEEP has me on two accounts to see which one works better for my requirements and issues in my area

@VB
Fast for newsgroups (my main source of anything)
But doesn't seem to allow the downloading of apps from Boxee (Boxee Box)
I also can't seem to stream content
Can't use torrents (I only have one torrent which has been downloading since October, 29GB, 73% complete)

@OPENWEB
Mediocre for newsgroups, seems to have some what stricter shaping during the day.
Can use boxee box and streaming with minimal buffering.
Can use torrents , it did 2% on the above torrent in one night where VB hasn't moved it 0.1% in one week.

....cross roads, I need to decide as MrBEEP is paying for both accounts....any advice?

complete the torrent on capped account.

use vb for your main content.

use webafrica 1gb account for steam content( does not use cap if you use there servers.)

for boxee im not sure :P

What you need to do is test drive the after hours uncapped package for a month. Well worth the price of subscription. R899

Streaming from boxee is meant to replace DSTV eventually so capped isn't really an option....

The torrent I'm not in a rush to get.... but it goes nowhere on vb, I can probably use my free 1gb account to finish it overtime.

I generally don't make use of torrents but on a 10mb line when I do on uncapped after hours this is what I get....

exactly it for me.

Hey Friends,

There is currently a major equipment fault on the Gold and Standard Backbone. Engineers are attending,

Kind regards
MrBEEP

I assume the fault isn't fixed yet. On the twitter page it says that the network is running fine, but on my side it is still very unstable/slow. Took me quite a few tries to even get on mybroadband forums. Also couldn't access gmail for a while.
Sent a mail but haven't received a response yet.

Using speedtest or pingtest I can't find anything wrong with the connection, but the download speed isn't where I'm used to it being. Getting about 10kbs over 2 torrents
