IS has been better than Altech for me. but i P2P and online game.. so no NNTP and heavy HTTP traffic for me

Jumping between the backbones is not supposed to be what we should do. I know OW is probably the best out there....But still, just throwing it out there.

What backbone is an @openweb account? I was on vb, NNTP started out well but became progressively slower each day. Mr. Beep moved me over to the @openweb account yesterday and NNTP was full speed.

@openweb is IS. You can do a tracert to confirm.

That is surprising because IS has been stellar for me so far.

+1

Me too. I was on IS since last year August, was up and down sometimes since last month when it went down the drain, switched to Altech for a bit more than a week (that started off great but went sour very fast) and now back on IS and loving every minute of it. Don't think I'll change backbones again unless something really bad happens.

Me too.
I.S has been a solid performer for P2P and general performance.
Love it.

Hmm... VB works, but it's weird.
I need to use multiple connections to get anywhere close to fullspeed on my already slow 384.
Grabbing a Youtube vid, 16-17KBps.
A single FTP thread runs at 10-15KBps.

Something isn't right on VB today. Also having a hard time getting 20kbs and internet on cellphone is also not doing all that well.

Now the max I'm getting is 20KBps. Tested my backup account and it's 100%.

Hi I can't connect to IS via OpenWeb. When I have Windows troubleshoot the issue it comes back with DNS server not responding. I'm using a Telkom router and it seems to be working fine. Please can I get some feedback on this. Thanks.

Try using Google's DNS servers?

8.8.8.8
8.8.4.4

I always use 'em and never have a problem.

In the entire history of mankind, I don't think the Windows Troubleshooter has ever correctly identified a problem. So it is probably nothing to do with DNS. Sounds like your account might not be authenticating. You should double check your account info in the router and if okay, email [email protected] and get it checked out.

Cant play any online game tonight, just lag and dc from the server... Warcraft 3, DotA
on top of that if i send 2000 echoes to www.google.co.za i only receive 1800 so 10% lost.

Very frustrating. sigh
