Once again my filesonic sourced downloads are timing out and stalling. Logged onto my Cybersmart capped unshaped account and they running at full line speed no timeout and stalling....

Blatantly shaping by time instead of by traffic is completely wrong in my opinion, as I'm sure quite a few people would agree with.

Then you'll see what I am talking about. It says 512/1meg. The GOLD PLUS is only R50 more expensive anyway. Not a train smash at all.

Anyone else sitting with wonderfully slow speeds this morning?
My VB Gold is sitting at 8KBps now. Both local and intl.

IS Gold local and intl. is also slow this morning. Normal HTTP speeds are below 1mbps.
 
Speeds are better after being put on a different account by MrBeep.

Think I must also drop MrBeep a mail as soon as I get home, my speeds went from whoosh to poop the past few days. :(

There is currently a major Telkom backbone fault causing widespread failures ranging from Authentication Failure errors to slow responses.

Engineers are attending.

We are still having a problem. Telkom have indicated they are still working on it. We apologize for the delay.

This will affect P2P and torrent downloads, as these will take the lowest priority on the networks during an outage.
 
I assume this outage is still currently ongoing? My downloads are practically dead right now.

The problem was resolved last night. Please switch off your routers for 20 minutes then back on if still slow.

Switched my router off for 20min and it's still slow....
And this merely 24h after being helped out by MrBeep.[/-]

Speeds are *whoosh* (screw Cell C) again.

Hi guys,

I upgrade to the 1mb special they have for R199, but they changed from the IS backbone to BCS backbone, can anyone confirm if I will still be able to DL torrents at night? It use to be a breeze on the IS backbone, and not even viable on VB for me. Don't wanna loss the DL capability.

I'm thinking about switching my uncapped from afrihost to openweb but after reading about so many issues i'm not sure. What would you guys recommend

Why so heretic? The problem is gold is R199 more than what I'm paying now, that is a lot. Problem is I only DL at night. Not sure if on gold you get shaped like STD during the day. I still don't know the difference between gold and STD, have to say for me the backbone makes the difference.

gold people are running at almost full speed ,if not full speed during the day depending on the backbone if i read though the messages.

if you download during night standard is fine probably :)
 
Yea all these backbones confuses me lol....I also did not know that the specials are on different backbones so make sure you know of which backbone you will be on.

That's why it is better. The uncapped experience we all want for R539 just isn't possible. That's why MWEB has gotten so bad lately.

I'm on GOLD right now. Much better experience than MWEB.
