Uncapped Unshaped LITE

Lite Uncapped, is an entry level uncapped, unshaped package that offers low to medium usage users a Premium speed at an affordable rate.

International and Local Uncapped bandwidth * No limits * Allows for 1 concurrent ADSL line to be connected to the account at a time * Fibre international backbone * Dynamic IP

Unshaped: (All protocols are given equal priority on the network)

Option
384k - R196
512k - R296
1Mbps - R445
4Mbps - R495
4Mbps Plus * - R1599

*PLUS is a new type of account that allows more bang for your buck. It is unshaped, and has a much higher threshold than the smaller accounts. This account is perfect for Small businesses, and home users looking for the cheapest Unshaped, Uncapped option!

=============================

Is this really unshaped? what exactly is the "much high threshhold" in the 4Mbps Plus?
Why is this cheaper than their standard uncapped, when the standard uncapped is shaped??:confused::confused::confused:

Not meaning to sound rude. But what are you talking about? Where did you get the 20% from?

From their website.
"* Fair Usage Policy:
Users are divided into two groups. 80% and 20%. 80% of the user base will always experience full speed access, with no shaping. 20% of the user base will be shaped. The fair usage policy on our Lite accounts is dynamic. Low to mid range users will always experience unshaped, superior access."

Ah thanks.. Sounds just like axxess's uncapped unshaped(*) then... With the top 20% being shaped...
Openweb doesnt mention a 10-day rolling window though, which is a plus, in comparison.

I don't like the top 20% shaping thing though, theres no way of giving a solid indication to the user that he really is part of that percentage.

Rather go for Standard or Gold Uncapped, as these accounts do not have this policy enforced.

I liked my time with OpenWeb on the Uncapped Lite package... I had one star :D

If you want to throw away R196, go for this option (384k option). I signed up Saturday and was getting 42kbps. Since Sunday, throttled to 7-10kbps. I queried it and was told that there was a node problem with Telkom. MrBeep asked to PM him my username and he said he would look into it. Gave me the same reply as I got from support "There is currently a Telkom MetroEthernet IP CONNECT node down causing major problems for our ADSL clients. " They claim this has been fixed, but Today, I am downloading @ between 10-20kbps from all popular download hosts. I have had to go back to Afrihost to use up my cancelled account, as I cannot download @ 10-20kbps.

I cannot be in the top 20% of downloaders as I have only used 2,8gb up until now. For browsing and Youtube, this account is fine. But all popular download hosts like Rapidshare, Megaupload etc are throttled. So is NNTP newsgroups. Tried newsgroups again today and crawling at 10-15kbps.

Hi subxzero,

Please respond to my PM requesting your ADSL username so that I can resolve your problem.

I did respond. As I said, you responded back to me with the generic response I quoted in my post. Have sent you my username again, hoping the first time was an oversight. In fact, sent it twice to make sure. Hopefully this can be sorted. Would make me a happy customer.

It seems my 1st PM went astray. PM'd again last night and have a 42kbps connection again. Thanks to MrBeep for getting me sorted.

OK MrBeep....maybe you can sort my problem out as well I'm on 512k uncapped and never go higher than 50kbps in fact it hangs around 20kbps most of the time.

Thanks in advance.

I have done +-30gigs on Openweb uncapped lite on my 384 line and still get great speeds from them, no complaints here...

@d7e7r7....lucky you!
Done about 14GB until this morning.
OK, lets wait and see if MrBeep can sort me out otherwise I'm out.

Wow. Find this VERY interesting. On Thursday morning woke up to find my downloads were moving around 18kbs, which then dropped to 9kbs. I emailed Keoma asking him why my speeds were low, to which he responded that I was in the top 20% usage, even though I had downloaded 10GB in 16 days, which works out to 600 Mbs PER DAY. Keoma told me that the average has been 7.5Gbs, which is why I was shaped, but now I see that d7e7r7 has done three times as much, and no shaping?

Hi Randhir,

As I am sure this will find its way to MyADSL anyways, I have advised you to signup with Mweb on their R219. Their product will suit your needs better.

d7e7r7 has done 30GB, after entering and exiting the 20% bracket a few times already. How he manages this, is his bonus. He might be a very lucky person.

Our Lite Uncapped product is not designed for heavy downloading. our website does advertise this clearly. For heavy downloads, I would suggest our Gold Uncapped 384k for R318.

I trust this will assist.

Kind regards

Why must he leave and go to MWEB?
Should I also leave and move to MWEB then?
