OpenWeb woes

That slow browsing is probably the fault of IS and not openweb, they're having some speed issues at the moment. You should keep the openweb account and get yourself a webafrica prepaid account (R75 per gb) which carries over to the next month. Use that to open steam and then use CS through openweb. If you want both connections open at the same time you need to install raspppoe and routesentry to route local and international traffic through the different accounts.

So does this mean you can get your ADSL modem to authenticate with 2 different accounts at once, on one line? Didn't think that was possible.

There is one thing I'd love to know: Does Skype work on Openrouter, after you are capped? And if yes, how well??? PC toPC mainly.

I just installed and went GO GO GO... and then it didnt work :p

ant1b0dy, is it safe putting your username and password into applications such as the ADSL Stats Analyser you have on your page?

Where am I suppose to change the maximum thingy to 2 for the PPPOE?

1. yes
2. click control panel, click network connections, right click your "lan" connection, click properties, click on 'ppp over ethernet protocol' , click properties, click advanced, set 'number of wan endpoints' to 2, ok all the way. Then restart your PC.

Yes, its possible. Im not sure what the limit is, but i dont think there is a limit. I've had three account connected at the same time.:D There's no point in doing that i just tried to see if it would work. Most of the time i just have two (one int and one local)

The reason why systemshock.co.za access is slow, is because systemshock.co.za isn't actually hosted on a "local" server. Although the domain is .co.za, the server it points to is 216.227.210.252, which is not a "local"/South African IP.

As said above, steam doesn't work through the proxy, which is unfortunate.
Your best option is to go for a 1GIG/10GIG-local account and keep that for source gaming. It's only R99.

Sorry,

Cool, so basically you could tunnel your local through a cheap IS account and use SAIX for intl? Guessing the total throughput is still limited to your line speed though? Do you know if all ADSL routers support this?

im pretty sure all routers support it, have to be able to set router in bridge mode. Otherwise it dont work

Hmmm, it would be nice to get an answer from some1 about my Skype question? :P Preferably from some1 who is actually using with Openrouter. If it worx, Openweb will be my ISP of choice as soon as my line is up!!!

skype works fine, my brother is using openweb, and we using skype now while i'm posting this. he is using openbrowse bit of a delay, but that is sentech (the fact that its wireless) i suppose.

Thanx man. So I take it that even after you're capped, as long as you use Openbrowse, even international Skype will be OK? That sounds excellent!
