Opposition parties turn on DA

...always reactionary, typical DA mentality - guage everything against what the ANC is doing...
Why are't Seremane, Sandra Botha, and any other prominent DA role players playing a role in the election campaign...
Helen is still a mayor...and shouldn't be missing mayoral committee meetings.

Sandra Botha is having some heart operation or something. I don't think Seremane would be a good idea to have him. He got so much criticism.

Typical ANC mentality, getting defensive when someone claims that the ruling party has already done the same thing.

Why is Mothlanthe or Mantashe, and any other prominent ANC role players playing a role in the election campaign...

Oh, and Helen Zille hasn't missed any mayoral committee meetings its merely a made up fact by certain forumites who are unable to provide proof to back up this comment. Maybe you would be so kind?

...so she applied for leave just so she could miss meetings....?
Shouldn't operational requirements be taken into account when one applies for leave...?

Indeed they are and since Helen Zille hasn't missed any mayoral meetings, this is indeed not a problem.

How long do you intend to drag this lie on for until you give up?

You have no proof. In fact the DA has refuted any such accusation. Please refrain from making baseless comments.

Besides, Helen Zille has applied for leave. Would you get fired if you didn't pitch up for a morning meeting because you were on leave?

All this despite the fact that she is working more hours than required by law to do her duty to the city of Cape Town.

Its a job Suckboy, not a way of life - she is entitled to her leave just like anyone else.

So once again, I challenge you to provide some evidence for you baseless rantings because I don't believe a word of it.
Furthermore, she had not missed any official council meetings and had applied for leave for two mayoral meetings which she had not attended.

There you go. Proof she missed TWO mayoral meetings. How can a mayor skip MAYORAL meetings. Shocking!

So who was right?
Apology required .........................................................<----space for timgauls apology. (pwned :p)

How can every other city or shall be call them "Sh****s" do so badly in comparrison to a city run by a mayor who misses two meetings?
That wasn't the argument, but the reason that Cape Town does better is open to debate. It may likely do well no matter who governs it, but as I said that's a fresh topic. For a mayor to miss two mayoral meetings and then try to duck criticism during an election month is not acceptable.

Do you have proof that the other cities are doing badly compared to the city of CT or are you going on sentiments?

The DA released a statement that indicates the mayor of Cape Town has spent more than the hours required by law doing her job. As such, this is hardly a true statement.

You can't just rubbish what people say all the time.

I have spoke to some metro cops who are disgruntled. They feel she is spending too much time making herself look good and is overlooking the issues they have in terms of pay and working conditions etc. They also think she is turning a blind eye on purpose because she is aware of the problems they have.

If the mayor spends more time doing her job, maybe she's just slow and can't do it in the time allowed. (just a thought);-)

"[She] had applied for leave for two mayoral meetings which she had not attended. "

How is this missing the meetings? Do you get reprimanded for missing meetings when you're on leave?

Honestly, you're grasping at straws now.
You were pwned, don't wriggle.

She MISSED the meetings. Finish & klaar!

They therefore no longer support her, feeling its phoney electioneering focussing on making the city look good to potential voters.

And I have spoken to many, many metro cops who feel she is doing a great job and are thrilled to have her as their boss. They say there jobs have been made easier and its good to have a boss who is concerned about their needs.

You can't please all the people all the time.

Answer the question: do you get reprimanded for missing meetings when you're on leave? Did you miss 15 days of work last year because you were on leave?

Or does this leave you argument in thin air? Ouch.

If my boss allowed me to to park off in a quiet corner to chat with my mates over a 3 hour lunch, I would be thrilled with it as well. Not to mention their traffic work performance.

Have you ever tried to ring the Metro Police in Cape Town? How are the Metro police in Joburg got to do with those in Cape Town (under Zille) ????????
[pwned again :D]

Who says I don't know people working in Cape Town, are you so ignorant?

Tick, tock, tick, tock. Not a difficult question, Sackboy.

I'd definitely get reprimanded if I had a meeting scheduled and decided to submit leave just so I could go to a political rally...
Obviously mayoral meetings don't occur everyday. Where is planning in all of this?
At the end of the day, what good is a mayoral meeting If the mayor does not attend? Why not reschedule the meetings around her busy electioneering schedule?

Ah, so your bosses tell you what you can and cannot do with your leave? Ah, right, where do you work again because I never want to apply for a position there.

Good gracious, if you take sick leave and miss the Monday morning meeting, do they take a whip to your back to???

Okay, I'll never complain about my job again.

Just a thought, what is the good of a cabinet meeting if the president isn't in attendance. Oh wait, the acting president can reside over the meeting. And yes Cape Town has a deputy mayor who takes over when the mayor is not available, that's why there is a deputy mayor.

Nope Helen took the leave, to which she is entitled for her job, and used it at her discretion. This is not the same as missing a meeting.
