Does anyone have any experience with sending a phone back to Orange to be repaired under warranty?
I sent my Sony Xperia Z3 Compact in on Monday 30/11 and still haven't gotten any real feedback from them - all I got was a "We have received your phone and we'll send it back when it's fixed"

Also, Is there a maximum amount of time that they can take to repair the phone?

I'm asking here and not contacting them directly because they take 5 days to reply to emails which is absolutely ridiculous.
Actually, my entire experience with Orange service has been pathetic - I literately got mixed up with a different customer just because we shared the same name so I'm definitely not buying from them again.
Right now, I just want to get my phone back ASAP

I have had my share of pain with their support department. There is a thread somewhere where I posted about my experience with them.

With me, I received a faulty phone twice, and they replaced it both times. Otherwise any repairs that would be needed afterwards would be carried out locally, by the HTC people (I forget the name of the company).

Unfortunately I can't give you much hope, or answer your questions, but you are not alone.

Perhaps give them a call on (010) 500-8791?

Have the same phone through Vodacom. Had a problem where signal dropped constantly and had no GPS reception:
1st book in for repair - took ~2 and a half weeks before returned but it was not fixed (Claimed to have been fixed but it wasn't booked back in the same day)
2nd repair - took ~3 weeks before returned but again it was not fixed (Claimed to have been fixed but it wasn't. I demanded they either fixed it or replace it)
3rd repair - took ~3 weeks before returned but again it was not fixed (Claimed to have been fixed but it wasn't) Got them to replace the phone.

If they use the same repair center don't hold your breath.

From what I recall there was no prescribed maximum time. If it takes longer than is reasonable (I'd guess about 1 month) you could try take it up with the Consumer Protection office after giving Orange an ultimatum.
The consumer protection act does deal with repairs briefly, sadly not with regulating how long they may take IIRC.

It takes up to 30 days, after which time you can request a new handset/refund. I sent in a phone a while back, after two weeks it was still not ready, and I got the refund I requested after the 30 day mark.

So I still haven't received my phone.
At this point in time, I'm just waiting for the 30 days to expire so I can claim a refund.
Does anyone know how long it takes to get this refund?

I'm not sure because when they offered me a refund I asked for a store credit instead because I was going to buy from them again anyway. It took them a day or two to issue me with a voucher for the store.
