ordered my closer plan 4 last night

oh goodness. looks like the Good Telkom stories are coming to a grinding halt

I ordered a Cybersmart all in one deal. But when the router came, there was a Port error (Telkom's mistake).
So Telkom have to fix the ADSL line... Fix it! It has never worked. ugh
 
got a call the other day from telkom and the reason why they need to come to my house is because i used to have a split line and so they need to make it one, but i got rid of that split line a longgggg time ago. apprently they comeing on monday holding thumbs that they do come

U mean like to split the phone line from lounge to, say, a bedroom, so that you have two phones? Telkom are Jackasses! I have that. It does not affect the ADSL in any way. Just have to have one of those POTS splitters, for wherever voice and data need to be split.

i had a split line when i had dail up one line went to my computer and the other to the phone. and i saw a telkom car come and they said they werent for me but for someone else in my building and get this the other person in my building didnt even report anything to telkom, i spoke to the telkom person and she said that was i needed wasnt in her department so she said someone else will come. ummmm okkkkk

Whoa man. Thats quite difficult to understand... I need sentences. HAHA

But, splitting the line to two different phones or fax machines or whatever is really easy. I did it myself before i even knew anything about this. Just get a simple splitter thing and hook it up.

lol sorry

when i had a split line one line went to my phone and the other line went to my pc for my dail up connection, and then i cancelled my split line when i couldnt afford the dail up anymore.

but for today when i woke up there was a telkom car outside so i got all excited and went to open up assuming they were for me, but it turned out that they were not for me but for my neighbour. i went to speak to my neighbour and she said that she never even phoned telkom so she had no idea why they were there. so after that i got consered thinking maybe they went to the wrong place or something so i phoned telkom and they said that no one had been dispatched for my order today, so then the telkom lady got the tech guy on the phone and got him to come to me now.

i assumed that after today i would be online and all hooked up and when i asked the lady from telkom that she said no that my closer 4 plan would only start to be processed today because of them wanting to change the split line into one line. so my waiting period for my adsl only starts today or tomorrow.

i hope that all makes sence now lol

the telkom guy came and fiddled with this and that and has now gone to the box and will be back. iam bummed that i still got to wait for my closer plan 4 to be processed i was so hopping that i would be able to get online today.

Oh ,so, do you have some sort of split that you can use the 2 splitees:D separately?
I was just talking about a simple split that the line could be answered in two diff places. like 2 phones on one line.

yes but it gone now lol i can take a pic of what i had before he takes it away if you like

well the telkom guy came back and he said its all done now so i got to phone them back and get that order going again

I beleive its actually one line that has been split into 2 numbers... We ordered a 2nd line at our house and they said there isnt any place or ports or wateva it is but they could split our line to accomadate the other and so they did and it worked... dont ask me how they did it..:p

It does affect your line though... i had dial up at that moment in time.. i used to connect at 44.1k.. after the split 31.5k

Yea, my bad. I was confusing this with its simple folk cousin :D
 
well i waited awhile as they suggested for the last order to go through and off the system and i phoned today to see if my closer 4 adsl plan order had been forwarded as they said it might be but they werent sure. when i phoned it had not been forwarded even after someone emailing the person i called first with an email saying that my line was now one line. so i had to put another order in for my closer plan 4 ..... and so the wait starts again.

and this time i asked for the ethernet modem the one with 4 ports ect , i think its one of these http://www.marconisa.co.za/modems_manual.htm
the lady said they got mega100 and mega200 but wasnt sure on the avaliability

ok i phoned telkom up and asked them if my line had been processed and they said yes and told me that i can go ahead and go collect my installation package wish i did and its all installed now but when i go to the verify adsl telkom page it just keeps telling me that the request has already been processed , arent i supposed to see a different message?
