Panorama ADSL infrastructure

Who did your neighbour bribe?? :wtf:

LOL, his line also shows only 2meg avail on coverage map, pretty sure your stats are the same.... Do you have an active DSL line currently or are you looking at getting ?

The coverage map says 2meg for me as well, but the below is the reality for my neighbour, the attainable rate in paticular.

WOW that interleaved value though :wtf:

I'm still on Amobia 3mb/s so looking to switch to DSL as soon as I can get on the upgraded system. Last time I tried Telkom ADSL I could barely get past 1mb/s.

Upgrade Complete today.

Rachel Bloch Street. The actual ADSL was upgraded 2 weeks ago, but it took Telkom a week to realise that they completed it after we ordered.

Line is currently running at 8mbit. And shows 20mbit as max attainable. I think that is the max my router will do. The techs that did the upgrade reckoned it can make up to 40.

After years of intermittent 2mb I am happy as can be. Switched onto a fixed 200gb Afrihost 8mb and am getting the expected speed.

So AT last we are sorted this side.

This is a noob question, but what do you use or how do you get these stats?

You get these stats from your ADSL router - you'll need to find the IP address of the Router's admin console and log in to see it.

My router lists the stats under the diagnostic menu, ADSL statistics.

My mother in law was home during the line upgrade and walked to the box to ask the Techs what they were up to. That is where we get the info regarding 40mbit being max.

I am cosidering signing up for 8mb/s ADSL just to see what would happen, but I haven't made it past the form for banking details. Suspect Telkom might just go ahead and charge me for 8mb/s even if I can only get 1.

We used the call centre. They insisted that their networks department check the line. It took a week. So it seems unlikely that they will upgrade you without testing the speed first. The network check is triggered by the coverage map. They will test if your coverage map entry says 2mb and you want 8. You can also insist that they check as part of the order.

Be Prepared to WAIT and WAIT and WAIT, to get a person on the line though.

My line was connecting at 10mbit last night. So not complaining to much.

Did you sign up and if how long did it take?
