Paradox IP150 configuration issue

Insight Gold is giving me so many hassles the past few weeks. When I'm trying to access my alarm, it'll say Connecting to Site and never connect. I exit and retry 2, 3 times and sometimes it eventually connects. Sometimes it connects first time.

What can I try?
Yep insite is rubbish... same issues.

Best to get another system to bypass it.

e.g. Olarm or the DIY route with a Raspberry Pi or other machine running Home assistant + PAI integration (if you can get hold of a pi)

Hey thanks, that Olarm looks amazing!

I use Home assistant with IP150 works well. I updated my IP150 and then it gave me the option to disable some stuff to avoid insite getting access to the module and to avoid it being auto updated in the future.

Olarm works great. However, it does not allow remote Babyware access to your panel through IP like the IP150 module.

The Olarm app is far more user-friendly and has far less latency and zero time-outs compared to the crappy Insite Gold app. I can also remotely access my electric fence with Olarm.

can you access both fence and alarm panel through the same device? or did you have to buy 2 Olarm devices?

Yes, one Olarm device. The electric fence is done as a PGM and gives basic fence triggered info and remote arm/disarm control. A separate Olarm device would give you more features ie. fence voltage, timers etc. In my case not needed and not worth the extra subscription.

Does each device require a separate subscription

How can I update the IP150 to the latest firmware with only an internet connection? (No serial cable).

There is a post in one of the Paradox threads with all the software on a member's ftp drive.
That would be me.

I see someone already posted it. I should check if there are any newer files actually and update the folder..

https://lekkerstuff.co.za/uploads/Paradox/ - I have multiple subfolders so check what you need.

Paradox should really stop being such douchenozzles and allow end users to download these files from their website instead of jumping through a million hoops.

Edit - have added 5.4.38 Babyware - thats the latest version.

Don't forget - if you update an IP150 firmware, you'll lose features. Newer firmware reduces what it can do.

My new alarm was installed yesterday with an IP150 module. I logged on to the IP150 IP address but I don't have an option for LAN only or SWAN. Only thing I can set is the gateway to 0.0.0.0 to prevent it from connecting to the internet. The IP150 is on version 4.42.02. Is this ok to prevent updates?

Updates will only happen if you flash it yourself.

Essentially the newer IP150 firmwares remove anything useful - no webui on the later ones even.
They do add compatibility with Insight Gold (a paid app service). I do use it, but its flaky AF.

Not a train smash, the main thing with the IP150's is that you can connect to other stuff.
eg I just setup mine to connect to PAI in Home Assistant last night.

Cool thanks, I have integrated it with HA as well. Just wanted to make sure it stays that way. I see the connection from PAI drops now and then and then it immediately reconnects. Is this normal?

Suggest look at your PAI logs to see the reason.

Mine seems to be stable, although I have only had it running since last night.

Seems to happen often.

Logs only says lost connection, and immediately reconnects:

This also seems to happen every time, when it tries to load the definitions from the panel it times out, and on the next connection it works. Is something taking too long to load or respond?

Code:

2022-04-29 11:28:09,814 - INFO - PAI - Starting...

I didn't change much in the config file, maybe there is a keep alive time I need to change?

Looks like it loses connection every 20 minutes, must be related to a config somewhere?

Edit, last night it was much more stable, only lost connection once during the night. This morning I stopped PAI to change the gateway IP of the IP150 to prevent it from updating again, could this be causing the timeouts?
