Parent needs advice

I haven't tried it yet, but in Mikrotik you can setup time based firewall rules as well to block whatever you want. Seems like an easier way to do it.

None of us have used time based firewall rules, but it could work. Drop all traffic to and from specific ip address or mac address between let's say 10:00pm and 7:30am.

eset parental control

limits most things acording to rules you set. Including game time, websites, apps.....

you install it on your tablet/phone, and same license is used on all the child's devices. Example tablet and phone.

You can then control things from your phone.
If you login online you can even see what she did when, calls, chats etc...

If you can get an asus router like the rt-ac66u which can do time scheduled access. If you want to take it further, load http://www.dnsthingy.com firmware which will to control what she access and also protect her from bad things on the net. If you need more info, give me a shout.

Hi Guys

I am currently with bitco on a 10Mbps line uncapped. Lately I have noticed that my daughter has been watching youtube music videos at night on her Note 4 instead of turning in at bedtime.

Is there any way of curbing access to the internet on a mobile device at certain times of day. I am able to do this on her laptop but cant figure out how to do it on mobile.

Appreciation in advance for your advice

SuperDad

Require her to leave her note4 on charge in the kitchen at bedtime.

One of our clients has a similar problem. This is the solution we provided.

We replaced his D Link router with a Mikrotik RB951
We made the kids' phones and tablets ip addresses static in DHCP.
We then used Mangle rules to mark that traffic and created restrictive queues for each device.
We then used the scheduler and some scripts to switch the queues on and off and to change the speeds. If son's bedtime is 10:00pm, then his queue goes to 1Kb at that time.

It's complicated to get set up, but it works.

Talk to your child.

Explain to her the importance of a good nights sleep and then trust her to act accordingly?

This isn't a technical problem, it's a discipline issue. Do your job and help to instil in her the self discipline that will help her all through life.

Jirre I laughed!! Whatever happened to disciplining your child. When my 7 year old messes up like this, I just take his tablet away for a week. Done and done........no more problems.

Pathetic really that OP is looking for a technical solution to this "problem".

I honestly think that your statement is uncalled for. Dont tell someone how to raise their child - Thats pathetic

My parents used a belt when I didn't want to go to sleep at bed time. I turned out pretty good.
