Paris Protests over Pension reforms

Do you understand that the 72.1% of people who didn't want him were then forced to choose between two candidates in a second round where the majority of voters then chose him.
Yes, it’s you who would be struggling to understand what that means.

And since this is boring me now, going back to your statement.
The pension thing isn’t the only reason people would have voted him in or out for.

lol

The pension thing isn’t the only reason people would have voted him in or out for.
But it was one of his overt promises whereas the alternative, Le Pen, made no overt promise to change pensions.
So now they must deal with it, after the majority of voters, who voted, voted for him over the other choice which was Le Pen.

It proves that he doesn't know what he's talking about and that it literally shows that there are now more old people than before.
You’d need a graph of the ages pension of beneficiary’s over time to prove anything useful.
And then a birth rate vs death rate over time.

But that’s already been done, hence the need for reform.

I’m not sure what the graph proves. I agree with you on socialism, but this is about a pension fund.
If the graph were dramatically different from 30 or 40 years ago, then the argument that they are running out of pension fund money because declining birth rates and people living longer is flawed.
In addition, if the government was prudent and adjusted the pension payouts to be under the 4% rule then they would not have run out of (other people's) money.

Luckily if you bothered to read my previous comment, I specifically posted a graph that shows how long people stay on pension in the EU on average.

France is one of the highest countries in Europe where people stay on pension. So their older population is more likely to stay on pension before dying.

Here, I'll post it again for you.

And then a birth rate vs death rate over time.
Or how about an age distribution graph over 10 years.

As you can see the population is trending towards a pop. of old people without enough young people to replace them in the workforce.

So the argument is now, "don't make people work longer, the government should reduce the pay out".
I'm sure no one would protest about receiving less of a pay out during retirement

Truly titanic thought.

Or maybe people should work longer because they're living longer.

So retirement age was last changed in 2010 from 60 to 62.

We have some very angry and passionate okes yet nary an article or dataset explaining the issue, lets post some stuff that actually has some info.

This is from Jan 2023.

The pension was last changed in 2010, from 60 to 62.

France's current early retirement age is about average.

The current average full retirement age.

The issue is that France has one of the highest amount of people who stay in retirement before dying.

Love how the graph is a French Flag.

I don't understand why they are forcing this, surely it is every persons' right to retire when they feel that have had enough? If at 85, why not, and if at 33 why not either? What happened to their freedom to choose? Is it because all of the migrants that are sucking the system dry?
Government backed pensions and the government is running out of money.

It is not like they just get the retirement they worked and saved for. That can be any age

The French essentially invented protests.

The whole French Revolution and all.
Serious ? Do you mean protest or rebellion / revolt ? I would have thought there would be protests/revolts way earlier than french revolution.

Not serious. More of a joke at how the French love their protesting.

Probably your last sentence that is the problem. A problem these libtard west European governments refuse to address. Macron and ballsacks like Turd-eau are cut from the same cloth.

Don‘t they ring fence the pension money from the other social fiscus?
From what I understand the issue is more around France having declining birth rates, and people living longer and using up more pension money.
Not having enough young workers to support the older ones with their contributions is the main issue they are trying to solve.

So one way to solve it is to raise the pension age. Another solution is to get more young migrants to make up for the low birth rates.:p

The migrants will obviously be a drain on other resources until they are hopefully able to contribute more than they cost.
The majority of migrants aren't in Europe to work and be productive. They there for the free ride they think they entitled to.

It's strange, I never considered Macron to be such a lefty, yet here we are. As for your reference to Trudeau, yes he seems to be heading that way, but still a far way to go (Trudeau is a right POS).

Macron is pretty much centrist, Trudeau is opportunist scum.
