Paying so much for games

I would hardly call Battlefield 4 and Battlefield hardline (EA access) and Tomb Raider (Last months free Xbox gold game for free) as that old .

Battlefield 4 and Tomb Raider came out in 2013. People say Hardline was crap (really low score on metacritic).

I find that hard to believe. My step-bro plays mostly on PS4 and is constantly telling me about games he's bought on sale.

PC gamers are the atheists here bro.

PSN Sales?

Dang, he are richer than me then - PSN prices in Euros (dollars if you signed up that way = kind of illegal = kind of pirate) and even on sale it works out more expensive than buying in the shop.

I subscribe to PS+ which means regular downloads of games for free, but you wait ages for AA/A titles.

Fair enough they have been around for a while , the fact is though that you can play all of them if you havent already for R50.
In my eyes , one premium console game at R50pm is a bargain even if they are a bit older nevermind the fact that you can play all of them .

Very few people want to play a two year old game (even it's only R50)

He's using Canada as his region I think. Hardly comparable to piracy when the publisher is getting the same money from you. I see The Last of Us on PS4 is $14 on G2A, so perhaps the discounts can be had elsewhere.

So you reckon playing Titanfall at R50 is a waste ?
Having Early access to games isn't worth it either ?

A lot of people would like to play titles they haven't had the chance to play . Not everyone had an Xbox on release day or soon after.

I specifically directed the question at console gamers looking for 2nd hand games, but thank you for the answer. I dropped PC gaming many years ago in favour of simplicity and the fact that kids can use them as well, so seriously, enough with trying to convert the atheists to your religion of choice.

So, console guys, would you guys use something like I described?

I'm a "console guy" too. Back when I was in SA I imported some secondhand PS3 games because you couldn't find them there. So I are a scum also.

Pretty much every online trading site has the feature you described. Not just for games but for everything. Ebay, Amazon, Bidorbuy, etc. all have price alerts AFAIK.

You probably had second-hand textbooks in school too you bastid.

:p

If you did, shouldn't you have purchased all your games at full price and not wait for the sales? One 2nd hand sale results in more revenue (by the seller buying new games) than a bottom dollar steam sale. And just like your facts cannot be substantiated, so are mine :D

Smacks of hypocrisy, but a nice example of "this is what I believe and everybody else should believe it to".

Now here is a good point. When the 1st buyer sells a game once he is done with it, he can afford a new game.

It's not a simple topic.

They just aren't really user-to-user. More b2c instead of c2c.

The model I have in mind is similar to what Amazon offers, but it benefits the seller and buyer of a 2nd hand game. Like gumtree, just less... what's the word. Chaotic?

It's illegal to sign yourself up for a region that you aren't actually in since that contravenes the publisher's terms and conditions (rights management and licensing and all that jazz)

Uh, no - did I say that?

That's not very different than streaming with UnoTelly though?

Yup, also illegal, also depriving the publisher of their 'legal' dollar and contravening their right to only publish into the regions they choose + depriving the local rights owner/distributor from recouping the costs of paying for those rights in the local region

Scum everywhere

Except that the content creators and content owners are still receiving your money. Quite different to piracy. Much of the content isn't available here at all, especially with the BBC iPlayer. It certainly doesn't bother me - I support local TV with a DSTV Premium subscription, and when ShowMax offers 1080p I'll get that too.

My point is that by using UnoTelly, signing up in different region etc it means that you're on the continuum already, just at the least extreme end of it - so you have little justification for being holier than thou about the issue.
