[Personal Experiences] Hisense TV's

Hi all,

I'm in the market for a new TV, will hopefully be pulling the trigger this Sunday. So after some research I narrowed down my options to the 58B7200 and 55B8000.

The OS doesn't really matter, as its primary use will be a mix of the norm... (OvenView, Netflix, YouTube, some HD and 4K movies from a HDD). The TV is for my grandparents place so picture quality > software/features.

My question is which of those 2 models are better in terms of picture quality. I suppose Android OS is better than Vidaa but as stated above I'm not looking for anything fancy software wise.

Also, alternatives from Samsung (55RU7100) and LG (55UM7340) do not have local dimming or Dolby Vision support. Are these features gimmicky/irrelevant? Should i rather stick to the Hisense choices above?

Any help/advise will be appreciated.

I'm not sure about the LG as I haven't seen it, but the Hisense 55B8000 is way better then the Samsung. I'm not the only one saying that, that also comes from a friend of mine with the Samsung.

After struggling for a year to upgrade, the unit updated itself to the above firmware last night.

I just turned the TV on and it prompted me to upgrade the firmware because there is a new firmware version available.

One thing I'm happy about is that annoying soccer World Cup 2018 splash screen kahk that's no longer showing up.

Anybody else?

I can actually believe this.

Look at the smartphone market. Xiaomi can order Amoled screens from Samsung, offer a decent quality product but have a different user experience.

Products produced by Chinese companies have improved immensely over the years.

I sometimes wonder if the only real difference between LG, Hisense & Samsung TVs is: the build, user experience & sound quality

The user experience becomes less important if you have an android box.. Sound quality becomes less important if you own a soundbar.

In my opinion the only real difference will be customer service & longevity.

My opinion on Samsung appliances changed after my folk's fridge decided to leak multiple times, my sisters fridge also experienced issues & my Samsung microwave died after a year.

Folk's have a Samsung Tizen TV at home. 2014 model. It was expensive at the time. Sound quality is kak tbh. You have to activate soccer mode to hear anything clearly & the smart remote has issues. Apparently it is a Bluetooth or wifi issue. Googled it a while ago.

In my experience LG seems to produce better quality products than Samsung. Parents LG washing machine is 10 + years old, spare fridge is also older than 10 years & im happy with my LG tv.

I now have a Hisense microwave.

I am more open to Hisense, now that they have invested in SA & have a bigger presence.

Hisense should really consider bundling Netflix vouchers with tvs.

65Q8600 - can anyone help me to find a way to show HDR / DOLBY VISION to show onscreen when selecting said formats?

Latest OTA firmware is loaded but I cannot find this setting anywhere? TV does switch to those formats but to check is hidden in sub menus. Quite frustrating.

Normally HDR switches on automatically, after that if you push into it should tell you if it's HDR or not.

Press info? or maybe hold it down?

I have a 55m5010. Have been unable to update the firmware. Did contact Hisense support, received the file from them. However, when following the instructions, nothing happens. Any ideas

I know that you have to extract them a few times until its a pkg or bin

@Hisense SA do you perhaps know the limitations there are to USB (memory sticks) to connect to a 43N3000UW? I have one, and it doesn't want to read USB drives anymore. They get super, super hot when connected but the TV doesn't pick them up. I've formatted to various file systems and also tried different ones, but none are working anymore. Just want to make sure I'm not botching something before I take the TV back to Makro for RMA.
PM me your firmware version and we'll try to sort this out before you take it back.
