[Personal Experiences] Hisense TV's

65Q8600 - can anyone help me to find a way to show HDR / DOLBY VISION to show onscreen when selecting said formats?

Latest OTA firmware is loaded but I cannot find this setting anywhere? TV does switch to those formats but to check is hidden in sub menus. Quite frustrating.
It shows Dolby vision in the corner when you switch on the tv if it using dolby vision, this on B8000.

HDR10 you can check by pressing info button on the remote, it will says hdr10, dolby vision shows 8bit.

You need high end media play to use dolby vision. Like the apple tv 4k, fire tv cube etc.

As I say - the tv does switch between HDR and DolbyVision using the built in Netflix app. It just does not show a POP-UP - I have to go digging into sub menus --- I do also drive it with a Nvidia Shield.

Another anomaly is when it auto detects a new device on HDMI it tells you to press "MENU" to change to that port but there ain't no MENU knob on the RCU -- LOL

For me, when that message pops up with a newly detected hdmi source, you just have to press the cog button, or whichever button you use to get to settings.

Yes that is the same on the 8600 but you would think that an almost R20k tv would get these little things correct?
@Hisense SA are you looking into these firmware issues? Need some testing - PM me.

Good evening everyone,

@Hisense SA I've been experiencing some weird problems which could be firmware related, however from what I've read it could also be a problem with High-Bandwidth Copyright Protection ("HDCP").
Any feedabck from anyone would be greatly appreciated.
I bought the Hisense 50" 4K UHD Smart TV LEDN50A6100UW during a January sale on Takealot and I'm really happy with the quality for the price I got it at.
Problem is that as soon as I started streaming content via Youtube/Netflix using my PC or PS4 the screen would go dark and you can still hear whatever's playing in the background. I am able to recreate the issue 100% of the time as it always occurs the same time regardless of which video I'm streaming.
I had a workaround with my PC where I changed the aspect ratio on my graphics card (Nvidia GeForce GTX 970) and it was fine for some time. Note that I could never apply this same workaround with my PS4 so that I only used for gaming.
Fast forward a couple of months and after recent driver updates to my graphics card I am once again stuck with a black screen during certain parts of the content I'm watching.
It's incredibly frustrating and I have tried all the updates as per the Hisense website (none of the methods to update the firmware works as indicated on the page...shocker).

From this forum I've noted that there are however different firmware packages that could work.
My current software version is VA002.01.00aI0929.
I've tried the firmware on the website and I was provided with a link from a Hisense representative but as mentioned neither have worked.

Thanks in advance.

Hi There Lucius Jan

Please try the latest firmware below. If you still struggle you can inbox me your contact details and we can try resolving this matter.
Remember to keep extracting the downloaded file until it's a *.bin and copy that to usb.

For me, when I say start a game on the Xbox, and it has HDR, it acts like its a new source and the screen flashes, and tells me it switched to HDMI 4, which it was already on. So would this help for you?

Just got an OTA update on my 55U6300, so they're working on this in the background. Hopefully the faff of downlaoding etc will be a thing of the past soon.

I replaced my LG with this flagship and on the LG it would display HDR / HDR10 or DolbyVision on top right corner for about 1 or 2 secs. Confirmation that the set matches the source...

Quick Question: Is it possible to use something such as a JBL soundbar in conjunction with the TV in a similar fashion to how Samsung's ARC works (control sound via 1 remote)?

Yes, I use it with my Sony amplifier like such, It will also switch on/off the soundbar/amplifier, (the soundbar need to be ARC/CEC compliant).
One caveat though, the Hisense Android remote volume control does not work for me using this method (uses MQTT), only the IR remote controls the volume.

Thanks for the feedback gents.

Bit the bullet and went for the 55B8000. Really impressed considering the price.

One thing that bugs me are the dark scenes... I can't adjust the backlight as its greyed out... I assume I have to toggle something else to be able to adjust it. @Hisense SA could you me help out? Or is there a firmware update to fix this?

I know that you have to extract them a few times until its a pkg or bin
Got to the. PKG. Standard 8gb drive, nothing else on it. Fat32. No matter what method I try to induce the update, it doesn't seem to pick up.

Thank you @Hisense SA after downloading that update, extracting it onto the flashdrive and installing it via the TV's settings (None of that press the power button while you plug the TV back in) it finally worked!
I've now streamed videos that I knew triggered the black screen in the past and so far nothing has happened.
This update has made this TV and all the anguish that went along with it totally worth it.
Thank you once again.

Hey @Hisense SA that update file you sent me and the method you described to me over the phone worked flawlessly. Updated and the USB issue is fixed. Hot-swapping works 100% now. Thanks a million, mate!

Think it automatically adjust if you use HDR 10 or dolby vision.

If you remind me later tonight, I will try to help you out. I have the backlight option enabled, so we can just compare settings. Maybe send me a PM so long.

Sorry I meant to say black level...
