[Personal Experiences] Hisense TV's

Okay so I finally have DSTV Now and Showmax working perfectly on my TV. I have a 55A6100UW. It "only" took a week to get this resolved . In an effort to help others, just follow my steps below and you'll be sorted ASAP:

The fix is to:

1. Download the firmware (.BIN file) from this link: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1YAlzY9FFiYuAPObMkx6fDwhueuImUg6K (This is my own Google Drive. The link/file WILL NOT DE DELETED)
2. Format a USB flash disk as FAT32.
3. Copy the .bin file as-is onto the root of the USB flash disk (Do not rename the file, do not put the file into a folder)
4. Put your TV on, and go to Settings > Support > System Update > Upgrade from USB
5. The TV will automatically detect that a firmware upgrade file exists on the USB. Click Yes or Ok to continue.
6. Your TV will now reboot and install the firmware. (It might stay at 1% for a while. This is normal. The progress bar will eventually move. DO NOT power off your TV during the firmware update process)
7. Once the firmware installs, your TV will reset to its factory default state.
8. Change your country to SA and after a few minutes you will see the Showmax and DSTV Now apps.
9. Log in to them and they will work perfectly. (Browsing titles and streaming)

NOTE: The firmware I have provided ONLY works on the following models:

43A6100UW
50A6100UW
55A6100UW

DO NOT ATTEMPT TO INSTALL THEM ON ANY OTHER HISENSE MODEL.

Thanks for this. Did the update on Sunday and Netflix works flawlessly now.
Still having WiFi issues though as it still forgets my network password every time I put my tv off.

Glad it helped you. I had this same issue once or twice. I got myself a Ubiquiti Unifi Wireless AP - Problem solved.

I've messaged HiSense directly just now but i guess that i will have to wait until Monday for a response. I only watch TV on the weekends and my netflix crashing is driving me insane :(

Anybody have the HX55K303F? Any decent?
Thinking of getting one, currently on sale for R5k at hificorp, seems like a really good price.
 
Anyone have issues on the DSTV now app on the 55u7a? Some channels work but others start the stream and then just freezes and never resumes playing. Tested with wired and wireless connection but no luck. Factory resetting also does not solve the issue. Netflix is working perfectly.
 
Hi guys, I have a fresh issue on my TV. Since about 2 days ago, it simply refuses to recognise my USB drive. It was plugged in still working fine, TV switched off. Switched on next morning, suddenly it doesn't pick it up. I tested the drive in my PC and there's nothing wrong with it. Any ideas?

If no other drives work either the USB port is probably dead.
 
I'll have to go dig out other drives, and also try to factory reset the TV. It's not even 2 years old. :(

Just bought 7 of them, 65u7a and all of them do this with DSTV app with the network cable (100mbps internet connection - YouTube is fine.
 
The DStv apps on the TVs seem rather crappy. Not sure if that's the TV or DStv, but I suspect it's the TV because the apps work fine on other model sets.

Holy smokes, 7 of them?

I'm tempted to buy a 55u7a but thinking I might need consider one of the Skyworth models. They have a new OLED model out now as well and Android TV is something I love thanks to my MiBox.
