[Personal Experiences] Hisense TV's

I was holding out for a while but finally bought the 85U7H on a double deal from Takealot and loving it so far. I still have my 65Q8600 and I've noticed 2 things: Enhanced HDMI on the 65Q8600 works perfectly with all devices (PS5, Soundbar, DSTV decoder) and I can enable Dolby Digital Plus audio. On the 85U7H when I enable HDMI-enhanced mode I can get picture but no audio at all and not able to enable Dolby Digital Plus. Has anybody else had the same?

The second thing is the picture settings. The TVs both have VIDAA and the menus are identical however, out of the box the settings are completely different (Contrast 55 for 65Q8600 and 85 for 85U7H for example) Anybody else got a U7H and is willing to share their settings?

Keep your TV box and inners... Thank goodness I kept my 65A8H's box when I moved. MacGyvered it and moved it without disassembling the TV. Perfect.

Had to throw all my boxes away, I mean my garage was boxes.
 
Hey guys, I noticed today, when I watch a movie through the Plex app on my U8H it doesn't play in Dolby vision even if the movie is a DV enabled movie. Threw same file on a usb stick and played directly through the TV, Dolby vision notification appears. Any idea why Plex is doing this.

I'll add my 2c; got the 55A8H on that Takealot special for R11k, it was a great upgrade from my previous 49MU7351 ito brightness and contrast, but I also use this screen as a monitor and in that respect, it was a bit of a downgrade. The pixels shift around a bit, so the edges of the desktop are not always in sight, and the screen dims quite aggressively when there hasn't been significant change on-screen. All good for OLED burn-in prevention but I didn't think it would be this obtrusive. There's also this screensaver that comes on after a few minutes of inactivity requiring the remote to be nearby, it doesn't seem like there's a setting for that timeout, so I've gone back to good old Windows screensaver to keep things moving.
On the HDR and DV front, it's brilliant! The highlights really pop out of the screen, in the LG OLED YouTube video those glass refractions look real. Another wow moment I remember was a scene on Netflix with the sun shining through trees in a forest. This TV maxes out at 800 nits and it's perfectly fine, even with a window directly behind. Those 2500+ nit TV's must be blindingly bright. I use a Chromecast wGTV so haven't used VIDAA much, it does look bloated and would much prefer Google TV. I've also been struggling to get the TV integrated with HomeAssistant, can't seem to connect to the built-in mqtt broker. The settings menus aren't the smoothest, but okay.
Overall, at the price I got it, I'm very happy with the TV, and if it was solely for TV use, I couldn't fault it.

Yeah it's honestly not designed to be a PC monitor :-)
 
Can people please explain why Hisense must be Cheap asses and use VIDAA instead of Google TV that is 999999999999999999999x better

Who knows, they use Android/Google TV in the US, but not for other models. Honestly I just use an android box
 
Great tv performance from the A8H Oled 65" play Apex legends often and the pixel shift prevents screen retension and burn in, so extreamly happy with those functions as I like my Apex and watch rugby and sports ALOT too. Seems to be fine on this set. Movies are just fantastic so Cinematic

MY connections are hdmi 1 enhanced hdmi settings that gives me ultra hd 4k @ 60hz/ 60fps (12bit) I use a ps4pro (that's the max settings for Apex legends even on the ps5)
