Judges are human so it's not possible for them to be impartial, unbiased or without prejudice. That's why they have the law to guide them.
What you guys are saying is that it doesn't matter how racist, prejudiced or bigoted a judge is, as long as they don't talk about it, or display it, it's ok and not a problem. For you the problem is that they discuss or show their racism, not their racism itself.
That's not what I'm saying at all. The reason is firstly to remove the judge from any position in which they may be corrupted or appear to have been corrupted, secondly they are societies judges, they must be above society. Or at least apart from it. Thirdly, they must not be placed in a position where they need to explain the reasons for their judgement to the public. They have the written judgement for this. Fourthly, yip a judge can be bigoted and prejudiced but they must not act on it. As you say they have the law to guide them (codified and precedent or common). But nor must their inherent failings be exposed. If they were there probably wouldn't be a justice left. As I said, they are not part of the public any longer but are put apart from us and are in judgement of us.
