So you don't think the president can have a positive or negative affect on how people act and behave? That someone with so little morals and lack of respect for woman is seen as an acceptable leader of the ANC says a fair amount about how woman in this country are regarded and how they see themselves. Care to explain why the ANCWL takes such huge efforts to praise everything Zuma does despite his wretched attitude towards woman, do you really think that has no affect on the rest of the country?

How is any of that relevant to the judge's racism?

Only that her attitudes towards black males are influenced by many things, I agree that she is a racist but that a lot of what she believes could be influenced by the attitude towards woman that are exhibited by our President. Am not denying she made ridiculous racial generalisations but you cannot deny that this country has a huge problem with violence against woman.

They are in some ways related...

The crux of the judges comments (ignoring the race aspect of it) relates to the absolute moral decay we see in this country on a daily basis.

If she is racist, do you think it could be white people's culture to be racist?

Am sure it influenced her yes, especially given the era she grew up. White culture, and especially parts of it that encourage racism should be criticised. It just seems some black people think that their culture should be exempt from criticism, like that King who thought that is was his right to be able to commit arson and assault against one of his subjects.

Some sectors of the "white" cultures are racist, that is very definite and they deserve to be criticised for it...

But her being racist doesn't negate her point, it merely muddies the waters about an issue that really should be discussed and dealt with.
 
True, but there are aspects of african culture that contribute to this problem. Specifically the masculinity aspect, the power distance index.
Any challenge to culture results in the person been labeled racist especially if god forbid she is a white wonen. But the underlying problem is still there and wont go away.

The culture of the african male can also clearly be seen in the verbal attacks and threats against the public prosecuter.

Rape is an act of assurting your power and dominance over the other person in order to punish them for real or imagined transgressions against you.

It's relevant, the judge refers to a specific culture, Zuma is a typical leader of that culture.

To be defensive is common across all races but extreme cases, as you point out is when people are being hypocritical.

Honest answer, is I don't know. I would hope not and hope that her conversation with Gillian Schutte was just massively ill-conceived and all that and was a massive mistake. She does need to face the consequences of her conversation and its racist aspect though, especially since she is a judge and should be seen to be unbiased.

BUT, it doesn't necessarily negate a point that her conversation does bring about and that is the violence against women and "rape culture" that does seem to be overly prevalent in this country.

Not sure what her cultural background is, but her point while not well communicated is that there are aspects of african culture which contribute to this problem.
