Philips Airfryer - anyone have?

We only do freshly cut potatoes ... I was never a fan of those "plastic frozen chip" ... to me they all taste kak no matter how you prepare them.

Once again ... the real thing or GTFO. ... you can't beet fresh potatoes deep fried in oil ... this thread will not convince me otherwise.

Im glad for you and you enjoy them ... it's your right .... but the group is getting smaller, as the more people I talk to about airfryer chips, the more agrees with me ... they all start missing proper deep fried chips ... FACT :p

Proper 3 week old oil deep fried slapchips or go take a hike. For the other times the airfryer is a for away.

Funny enough for the past few weeks our Checkers has only had Wimpy brand frozen chips, this week nothing at all. No McCain, no natures whatever they are, no generics, nothing.

Fortunately potatoes are plentiful and we have a mandoline.

Oil makes the best chips. End of story.

Chips or most things will never be as good in an air fryer, especially any fried food. Making chips in the air fryer is cheaper and faster and less to clean(I use cooking oil only once). It's OK but not great. These thin Mcdonalds style chips work and taste the best, if coated in oil.
The only thing I ever made that is best in an air fryer is normal chicken pieces(not crumbed). Can't get it as crispy and juicy in the oven or stove or braai.

Oil doesn't get good until the fourth or fifth use, then it gets even better. Chip fryers come with a lid for a reason.

And thin chips still suck in the airfryer.

Yeah Mccain seems to have disappeared, Haven't found their normal straight cut chips in over 3 month now. The shops only seem to have Mccain slap chips and other brands.

Remember when you used to say it takes hours to clean an airfryer.

Well cleaning an air fryer is still a hassle. making chips or any fried food is so much more. Not only do you have to clean all the oil spatter of the floor and stove. You have to dispose of oil and clean that plus the pot, plus the plate or whatever you used when taking chips out and letting oil drain of etc. Just big work.
