Philips Airfryer - anyone have?

Hi I'm very keen to join this society.
It's for me and my gf so I'm looking at the XL.
The 9261/90 is currently R3,315 on takealot.
Every where else is R1,000 more.

I like the look of the XL grill pan. But according to slservices it only fits the 9240.

Slservices is selling a refurbished 9240 for R1,745.

I'm hoping to tap the collective wisdom here for guidance:
1. Is XL the right size for 2 people?
2. Should I buy new or refurbished?
3. How does quality and accessory flexibility between 9240 and 9260 compare?
4. Any other thoughts / guidance?

Thanks!

I am always scared to go refurbished due to the short or no warranty. My mother in laws started giving issues couple of months later and had to send back for exchange. Sadly it was with Loot and Loot has lost it. Been over 2 months waiting for a replacement. Their communication is horrific. Having recommended them pre-covid, I will now avoid them like Evetech (another way to say avoid like hell).

XL is great size for 2 people.

I don't think it is worth more than R3000. Takealot has always been expensive. Putting it on sale at normal price (R2800-3000).

Tafelberg Furniture, Hirsch's and Makro has had it for Sale in the past for R2000-R2500.

But given my latest experience with Loot, I would gladly have paid a bit extra to receive the experience from Takealot.

As for the price now, I don't know what is normal anymore. Philips only got stock recently since lockdown, so prices might come down again.

Just got myself the Milex XXXL for around R2k, decent piece of kit. Enjoying it so far....

Would have been nice if you could compared it to the Philips XL.

Have the XL and Midea.

Midea have analogue dails and smaller heating element so takes a bit longer but we prefer the Midea. Size wise it is about the same

I already have a Philips XL - had it so far for about a 1.5 years, but got myself the Milex XXXL with a spare basket for R2100 on a special, as a backup/extra

Haven't really used the Milex, but it seems to be easier to clean - the basket doesn't have so many nooks and crannies and the tray also looks simpler to clean - the footprint seems about the same or even smaller, although the capacity is larger - annoying at this stage, is that when you remove the basket, the tray is also removed and has to be unclipped if needed - maybe this won't be a problem, will see with further use - I suspect the Milex heat from below will not be as good as the Philips - the Milex is quieter - spare basket only cost R200 - Milex looks similar quality - 2 years warranty

time will tell

EDIT:
quite annoying so far, but maybe good for the machine, is that whenever you turn it ON and then OFF, it goes into some insane cooling off stage....

Saw it at checkers

Why do you prefer the Midea if I may ask?
Bought it before the XL and I think we just got use to it.

Think it is slightly smaller/lighter(not the inside) and also find it easier to clean. Simple analogue controls - heat and time.

I am starting to question the quality of these Philips Airfryer. Bought end 2018 started to make fan noises recently, as if the fan is staring to come loose. Still a couple of months left on the warranty. Also sometimes the buttons will just their own thing.

My mother in laws a bought end last year had to be returned because the display was wonky and switched itself on and off by itself. Waiting for replacement.

Have I been a bad salesman?
