My wife's phone eats money out of her airtime balance for data instead of consuming it from her data bundle.

Can someone please tell me home to change this?

I had an issue on my MTN prepaid sim over the holidays where I also experienced this. Turns out that the data bundle I bought was specifically Opera Mini targeted. Anything else would use airtime. Nowhere during the purchase process was this explicitly stated though (I used the USSD process). At the time I simply didn't have the drive to make a scene about it though.

Short version; if your wife is using an MTN sim, make sure she doesn't have the Opera Mini only data bundle.

Delete current WAP settings and request new settings.
I'd have to do that myself and she's not with me at the moment.

This is Telkom Mobile however and they don't have the Opera Mini free browsing feature.

Are you roaming? If roaming on the MTN network, it eats credit instead of the TM network only data.

+1, you wife has on-net data bundle, not all-network bundle.
Normally TM stops traffic and redirect to the WEB site where you can give them permission for OOB. If it happened and TM received permission, register to the self-service, you will have option to disable OOB charging. It will stop Internet traffic when your data bundle expired or is inappropriate.
