In Bangkok I used to stay in the Pratunam area where the Baiyoke Sky and Indra Regent are but there is no night life. I prefer the Khao San Road area and stay at Rikka Inn. Great clean rooms that are quite small but at R200.00 a room it is a bargain and you are right on Khao San and a great party buzz at night. http://www.rikkainn.com/room_standard.php

In phuket now. Lots of Russians here. There are rude, and some of there wifes look like that woman in the Ukraine war videos.
Local people very friendly.
I could not get a license for hiring a scooter, but I will get lost her. We use wolo to arrange our trips, they arrange transport from hotel and back. Actually they look well after us.
 
There are indeed a lot of Russians in Phuket. I've not really found any reason to complain about them. Their mostly serious demeanor doesn't matter to me, but I've heard that many of them disregard any kind of cultural norms and protocols (half naked in temples, shirtless in malls, etc).

There is a nice Georgian restaurant in Patong though, called Georgia. LOL

Russians are the most tacky tourists I've come across with their seemingly rudeness, fake lips and awful fashion sense. That said, I got drunk with a pretty cool one at a full moon party in Phuket a few years ago.

See if you can spot Anthonie Bougas from South Africa maybe who "fled" to Thailand. He is in the news because of the " KleuterZone" fraud.
 
This was a nice blast from the past, I paid R4600 for return tickets in 2011.

****, now I will fly over for a week every month at that price.
 
Spoke to Americans yesterday, they were stopped at a road block, had to blow for drinking test.
When going on a boat cruise, put on your swimming clothes, before the trip
