Pick n Pay False Promise

Why would you buy All gold when only Heinz make proper tomato sauce?
Hey, I've tried tomato sauce in many far away places, and All Gold is definitely the best. Heinz Ketchup has far too much vinegar and is thinner. They also use high fructose corn syrup and other additives if I'm not mistaken.

I hope we can get some other shop reps on the site. I am going to see if I can email Shoprite Head Office because we just came from one now and their shelves are a nightmare. Their juice shelves in the freezer side are so badly packed that what is on the shelf is not what is marked and what is marked is not on the shelf and if you don't read the fine print you gonna be caught at the till.

So far havent noticed problems with out Pick 'n Pay's here and they actually remind me of specials when I go to cashier if I got something which was and always ask for my shopper card.

Other shops I go to they always forget to ask for Ebucks/myschool cards etc.

They also improved our Pick 'n Pay stores lately so they smarter than before.

Only problem I have is the queue lengths being so long everytime I go to the one at Midlands Mall, Victoria Rd & Hayfields so end up going to Spar/Checkers instead since their queues are short.

One thing I find is that their pies/doughnuts etc. standard seems low, they arent as good as the spars/woolworths ones.

So this causes me to lose points by having to go to other grocery stores for same items, but better quality.

I got a call from the Shoprite branch manager whose shelves were packed wrong and she explained that the merchandisers and packers were to blame and she took pics of the shelves. She then said she was going to have the staff reprimanded and because I never came to her first and went straight to the top, her job was on the line now.

I almost forgot.

Pick and Pay had a special on with 2lt Sunfoil oil and we went to purchase a bottle. We found that there was no Sunfoil on the shelf so asked one of the ladies working there. She checked then came back to say they did not have stock but if I leave my name and number with them they will call me and I can get a bottle at the price advertised. This was about 2 weeks ago already and my phone is strangely quiet, Will have to check on them over the weekend if we go that way.

Similar problem with their current special, but they gave us a rain cheque.

Honestly, the store manager's job SHOULD be on the line.... she needs to make sure stuff is right.. all the time.

She rubbed it in thick, I was almost in tears.

Then I would phone Head Office back and complain about that.....

Trying the emotional guilt trip crap is unacceptable.. she is the store manager, she must take responsibility for it.

Yeah maybe I should have done that. I also thought I should have told her to hire me to check and repack her shelves.

Here's the thing: Even with the best effort and intentions things will go wrong, it's inevitable.

However it's how the store/supplier handles the issue that differentiates them.

P&P? A simple example: A few years back I bought one of those little plate hangers made of two pieces of wire and springs. However the packaging was of such a nature that the heat used to seal the item onto the cardboard virtually melted the covering coating on the wires to the plastic over the cardboard. The plate hanger could not be removed without damaging it. The actual item was cheap.

I sent an email to P&P. Shortly thereafter I got a call back, offering a replacement. They had investigated and agreed the packaging was definitely not suitable, having tried removing the plate hanger unsuccessfully in one of the stock items.

I did not want a replacement offered (would mean taking down the repainted plate hanger etc - call me lazy :)). However the point is that P&P followed up, acknowledged the issue and sorted the packing issue out while offering to make good with me. That is customer service.

Then again I have had issues where the store simply could not care ... and I never go there again.

True...true....

Pick and Pay are at least a clean store compared to others but there are things that can be changed here and there. Try buying an 8ta phone, which is in the office, whilst they are busy with cash and the security guys are there.

Other shops like Shoprite have chocolates at the tills with no prices on I mean what's up with that?

Some Managers leave a lot to be desired.

I bought a bath foam from PnP two weekends ago, according to the ad I was supposed to get a shower gel with it. I was told by the cashier that she "thinks" they are finished because she hasn't seen em. I told her but the ad paper is new,so they must still be there, I asked for the manager but the supervisor was sent. She passively told me those things were not delivered,,,,,(not my problem, I thought),,,She took my number and said the manager will phone me, I asked for manager's number but she said I can get a store number on the receipt. Today, two weeks later no one has called me.

Did you get the "rain cheque" too, cause I am also waiting on my call back.

Totally illegal and against the advertising code. Try and talk to the ASA. They have to cater for demand.

Well it seems that Pick and Pay do not phone their shoppers who have "rain cheques" and you have to go in to them to find out what the deal is. I received my "rain cheque" towards the beginning of Feb and went to them over the weekend to get the product, there was no fuss at all.

Sweet lord man, what madness is this? Heinz better than All Gold? I guess it's true what they say about head trauma impairing one's judgement.
