Pistorius iPhone code eludes investigators

Hy is 'n moordenaar en moet tronk toe gaan. Hy is skelm. Hoe onthou jy nie jou passcode nie!? Jy gebruik dit dan elke dag!!!

On Thursday, 13 February, news outlet eNCA claimed to have gained access to Pistorius’ iTunes account using the Apple ID and password provided by Webber, without any issues.
Why is Webber giving access to potentially important evidence to a newspaper (who can now change the password or even erase data at will)?

Is it not the 4 digit lock code they need, not the itunes account info (which they have)

Pistorius could reportedly not remember the four-digit passcode needed to unlock the phone at the time.
:wtf:

Well then. Why not go to Mr-Apple-I've-got-your-number aka George Hottz. In sure he won't have a problem getting the info

Surprised he hasn't remote wiped it seeing as he hasn't provided the pwd.. Surely Apple can unlock it? Also if he backed up to iTunes once it can be recovered without pin

Don't the service providers have details and recordings of the numbers he dialled and calls he received?

I thought this is what RICA is all about.

I would have thought that even with a remote wipe, as the police are in possession of the phone, surely they could do data recovery?

I think they are interested in the content of the text messages - which RICA does not oblige service providers to record.

The only way afaik to do it correctly without it being considered tampering with evidence is to get Apple themselves to unlock the phone.
