Definitely buying one. Forked out R6 500 for the PS3 at launch, hopefully the price tag is not so steep this time round.

With those specs I will be surprised if it's inder R10k.

Anyways, speculation is that it will be cheaper than a PS3, which would be impressive.

I get the feeling it's going to be common place with this generation, there were rumours of the xbox also not being backward compatible.

This console is now using PC architecture, including direct X. None of that cell crap. Hopefully this means a much easier development process, and easier porting of games between XBOX and PC. This is a much better standard than each console using its own system, which means by the time the playstation 5 comes along, you will probably be able to start getting backwards compatibility on all games.

This should bring huge graphical improvements over the currant gen, and even PC will benefit from this.

I would guess a definitive of OpenGL 4.3+.

Basically equal to Direct X 11.1 in features.

The specs are almost the same as the rumored next gen Xbox, wonder why Sony had to quickly announce the PS4 whilist i remember them saying their console will come after Microsoft release their next gen Xbox coz they don't their ideas being copied but now we getting this announcement, if Microsoft release the same specs as the PS4, Sony will claim Microsoft is copying ideas from them. The controller looks cool but i wanted to see pics of the Sony PS4 console, great titles coming to PS4 and i'm hoping the pricing will be reasonable,

Looks like the architecture is very PC like. Seems like Sony is seeing a resurgence in PC gaming and is developing their platform to make it easy for developers to develop for both.

The Last of us is probably the Last Playstation Exclusive that will be released on PS3.. Whats gonna happen when PS4 is released,... Exclusives will be reserved for PS4 and PS3 is left with crappy titles?

Holding thumbs Beyond 2 Souls and Watchdogs don't jumb to PS4 releases.

Looks good. But that "share" button is going to irritate te crap out of me.
Youtube's already been taken over by a ridiculous amount of completely pointless game play videos. Even some of my favorite channels have a "Hank plays Assassins Creed" or similar bull**** video playlists.

I must be getting old or something. But this overwhelming move to gaming becoming such a social networking in-your-face crapfest kind of irritates me.

Only time will tell. I'm sure Sony have learnt their lesson from what happens when you push a high price for a product. The only company that can pull it off is Apple. But then Apple products are more of status symbol.
