I received this SMS from TM today:

The nights are getting hotter with an extra hour of Night Surfer! From Sunday, 21 September, you can enjoy surfing the internet from 12am to 7am instead of 11 pm to 5am. T's & C's apply.

What do you guys think, is this a good or bad move? I'll probably start doing my downloads in the morning now, since I'm up early anyway. I'm on the 10gb+10gb package, but I assume that it affects all night surfer data.
 
Initially disappointed but then it is usually for torrents at month end which are two nights only. More recently though I have waited for 11 for some YouTube and ahem Xvideo. It also gave me a chance to stream multiple Champions League or La Liga games on occasion.

11pm offers more for me, back to being unhappy.
 
New hours suck! They should have left it at 11pm and still made the change to 7am.
 
I agree, I hate the new hours.

I normally waited until 11 pm to watch a few YouTube videos in HD & now I can't do that anymore.

Are we just forced to accept these new hours, or can we choose to stay with the old hours?

Very unhappy.

Do torrents work on night data mobile?
Anyway I also hate the change. I sleep at two usually so this means less time to work.
 
I think the change had to come sooner or later since the name change to Telkom.

Now they will avoid any confusion on the part of the customer. when Telkom talks about night surfer data or usage it means usage between 00:00 and 7am on all their products like mobile data and adsl and possibly fibre too.

I think they want a set standard between all the technologies.

But Telkom Mobile was ALWAYS the elite part of Telkom - and we got rewarded for it by having our Nightsurfer starting at 11 pm.

My happy hour, when I could watch all my music videos on YouTube in HD.

Now it's all gone. :cry:
 
First 5GB turns into 2GB then 1GB on the "smart plans" and now this :/ not impressed
 
Telkom Mobile changes

Just a heads up for people that also use Telkom Mobile, I see from Sunday 21 September they changed their Night Owl hours to 12am to 7am from 11pm to 5am.

Don't get caught out.
 
Why don't they properly notify us ?

Instead they send these meaningless SMSs:
"SUMMER is about to get exciting! Telkom is going to change the way you connect, watch this space. Tomorrow start today"

No! Today started yesterday at 11pm, but tomorrow will only start when today has ended.
 
they giving an additional hour and that's would have thought is great. all your series will be ready when you get home the next evening. surely this is a win. I must admit to be tempted to move back.

I have absolutely no use for nightsurfer between 5 am - 7 am, as then I'm sitting in morning rush hour traffic.

that's when the downloads run I presume. at least that's how the majority would be utilizing it.
