I rated them average. Technically the service is okay in my area. Better than competitors. It is the first service I've had issues with WASP services without asking for them. Which was quite expensive.

It's one reason why I'm eyeing Telkom. They let you block that completely on your online account yourself. Vodacom you have to specifically call to get that done. Which can be a real pain. Plus there's no way for you to know you can do that unless, like me you researched it specifically. An online account dashboard with options that you can turn on and off makes it visible.

Busy with a horrible experience where Vodacom softlocked my and my family’s number because of some credit limit issue. They say they fixed it, but it will take 4-7 workings days before we can start using our phones again.

Absolute rediculous. How am I suppose to run a business without using a phone.

Also, does someone know to what department at Vodacom I can send my bill for waisting my time!:mad:

I'd give them a blended rating of 'below necessary evil'.. Lol.

A few years ago I asked for a limit lock on a sim I lent to someone. Got an account for thousands, when inquiring I was told the system had lifted the lock right after I requested it & that was that. No better answer than that, no investigation and no feedback ever. Their systems stuck, their customer relations suck, their blended rate calculation suck the most. Their network is OK tho, but the only acceptable way to deal with them is having a prepaid sim so you never actually never have to deal with any of them in person..

Dammit, someone reminded me about Vodacom allowing rogue WASPs on the VLive platform who steal peoples money, should have rated them the lowest.

+ Good technical support, people speaking in plain English, while the accent indicate offsourcing to India.
- Poor LTE coverage in suburban area (north of Johannesburg, border of Pretoria).
+ Stable voice service and not overloaded data network.
- The worst data counters of any other network. Outstanding stats keep updating and final result is only reliable next day around noon. It was probably good in GRPS era (48kbps). Combined with high OOB charges, it make fools of the customers, complete rip off.
- OOB consumes a contract inclussive airtime, also not acceptable.
- Innovation is only on a paper and various announcements. Implementation sucks. It is already two years after Vodacom introduced VoLTE and this feature is only working on a few most expensive phones. Many new VoLTE capable phones are sold by Vodacom, but middle range handsets sold by Vodacom are not working on Vodacom network. The same apllies to VoWiFi regarding handset support. Even on supported phones this servis is regularly interrupted. On the Vodacom network you can't depend on this feature, but it is critical if you go overseas, so I say NO, thank you Vodacom On the other side VoWiFi works very well on Cell C.

Vodacom sucks, their financial department is full of morons, they claim I owe them and yet no one is giving me facts on how I came to owe them, everybody seems to have a different story on the matter but they are all vodacom employees, anyway I am taking legal action against them, my aunt and mother had the same problem....as soon as my situation is resolved i am porting!

Excellent network coverage (in most places except my place) but poor value for money on calls and data. So overall rating of average.

Where I stay, Vodacom has better network coverage/speed. In terms of customer service, they have been a better devil for me over Telkom and Mtn. If they were not overpriced, I would actually rate them excellent; but for now I will stick with good.

While their customer service is better and provide value-for-money product offering, their network outages are too often and prolonged. Very unreliable network stability and availability.

Vodacom is a good network in terms of voice quality, but their data is way too expensive and this is where Telkom & Rain are capitalising.

Their contracts are on the expensive side but hey seem to have the best network coverage and performance (at least in urban areas) out of the major operators. My personal experience with instore service has been good, the employees there have been fairly patient and ready to answer all sorts of questions regarding their products and services.
My main peeve with them would be the incessant marketing calls from them and their affiliates, trying to convince me to sign up for another contract to use as a spare phone, or to give to a spouse/parent/sibling/neighbour/pet.

I must admit, besides Vodacom's crapoy signal around the Midrand area, which is wierd as the HO is based in Midrand, one of their consultants called me last month and helped me upgrade my package so I would spend way less on my bill monthly. So far so good. They also implemented an automatic softlock a while back once you ran out of your monthly data and free minutes bundles... It's just a pity that they didn't warn any of their customers about it before implementing a non-negotiable softlock.

In my case I haven't ever had any issues regarding billing, general network quality/speed or even customer service. Its not a bad ISP....if they weren't so damn EXPENSIVE!!!

Data prices are ridiculous (look at what Telkom FreeMe is able to do), and included minutes with standard "Smart" contracts is so low, you are left to opt for R1000+ p/m contracts in order to be able to make any calls whatsoever. The devices you can choose from usually only consists of ultra-high or ultra-low end cellphones - something that was not an issue in the past. Still, they are probably SA's nr. 1 network due to having the best coverage and wide-spread public acceptance.

I'm with Telkom now...very happy with what I'm getting for the price.

Been with Vodacom ever since I owned a cellphone and my main gripes with them are:

1) Expensive packages / products (especially of late, compared to their competitors)

2) The customer service for queries / upgrades is on the sloppy side of things. Takes several attempts (via different people) to do one thing right.

But other than that, the network is decent, as well as their coverage.

I’ll keep them around (for now) and see if they’ll ever consider making changes to their value for money aspect.

Poor. And what everybody else has said.

I have always found Vodacom's network to be solid. I switched to them originally because I stay relatively close to a major shopping centre and over Christmas time, the MTN towers used to crash so frequently, I wouldn't have proper coverage for the December period.

Earlier this year, I got my first experience of their customer service and I was amazed - it went well beyond any expectations I had (especially from a South African company).
My wife performed an upgrade with a reseller. She was in 2 minds about it, but the guy offered her a special that pushed her into committing. The special ended up not materialising - when we raised it with the reseller, they said the guy no longer worked there and the special didn't exist so hard luck. After going back and forth with them for almost a month and thinking I would need to go the legal route, I tried Vodacom customer service. I emailed them and within 15 minutes, had a call back and by the end of the call, they had provided the disputed amount before even investigating the issue. They struggled a bit to get what was promised reflected on the system, but they called me pretty much every day to advise of progress and when we entered the new month, manually credited the account again.
The experience I had was like one of those textbook cases you read about.
