Hi Guys

I'm thinking of acquiring a TV.

Legally.

; )

This is the one I'm ogling, as per the suggestion of the wizened members of this here forum:

Once installed, I would like to set up a smallish streaming network consisting of the TV, my PC, one iPhone, one Samsung and an ASUS tablet.

My question is, how to go about this? Can you use PLEX with Chromecast (ROKU?) and WiFi to stream something like Netflix from my PC to the TV. Can I run a streaming server with content limited solely to what movies I have stored on my external, and not have my desktop repeated on the screen, especially when I want to errr, watch some age restricted stuff. :D Or do I need a completely separate PC for that, or maybe just a media box with HDD?

When accessing netflix, is it absolutely necessary to use paid VPN like Unotelly, or can you use something else?
What about this: http://hola.org/ (might be free or not, not sure, a co-worker showed it to me.)
What are the pro's for using something like Unotelly?

I am a complete and utter noob where this is concerned and would appreciate all the help you can give me.

Thanks!

PS. Roku... why do I keep thinking of Avatar the last Airbender?

Plex works great on both Roku and Chromecast. Just remember that your server should have a decent CPU as it will be transcoding a lot for the Chromecast especially. And yes you can restrict your content and with the new version of Plex you can set up content restriction per user also (parental controls basically).

You also cannot use Hola on these devices. Hola is a browser plugin, you will need a DNS service like UnoTelly or look here: http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php/629797-Testers-Wanted-Netflix-DNS-Proxy

+1 for PLEX and Chromecast. Have this setup at home with no hassles at all
