Plugg Uncapped ADSL Feedback

Could we have a timeline on the planned IPC upgrades?

The current issues are pointing to something other than IPC. It is being addressed at the moment and hopefully resolved soon. Right now, I do not have any answers to give other than engineers are busy attending to the current wave of slowness for local/international.

Depends a lot on when you download. Off peak will lose you less stars. Day time downloading is a big no-no.

All my series download between 9pm and 6am as it's on schedule with Sickbeard

other downloads are small ( updates etc)

:wtf::confused:

Im on 2 stars for only 218GB

Something is not right

Remember now, you are sharing your account. I already showed that your friend is using much more than you; so he is getting much better speeds. Once I have finished pulling the stats to see how much you and your friend are pulling at what time of the day/night then we can have a look at the star rating.

Seriously thinking about canceling, just weighing up my options

Left Mweb close to 2 years ago because of the same issues - After Plugg became more well known it looks like their service has dropped as I never had these issues in the first year and a bit

I think price changes are coming up in November so i will evaluate things then, its pointless chopping and changing betweem isps over the space of 2 months.

yeah I understand that - his setup is the same as mine but, anyway we'll see what your findings bring up

Thanks

Thanks Janitor :)

Office 4 Mbps uncapped cancelled. Already signed up and switched over to an AfriHost 75 GB capped account. Effectively uncapped for us as we only use 30 GB a month and it's R100 cheaper.

We'll keep our home 8 Mbps uncapped as we use it mostly after hours and it performs well then.

But not having decent speed at our company when we only use 30 GB a month and are on 5 stars is not acceptable.

Hearing about people on 5 stars also being shaped is I must admit quite a shock and Plugg should feel damn ashamed, because I for one always thought 5 stars meant unshaped like capped, I guess I was wrong and 2,3,4,5 stars mean the same thing!

You are making assumptions that are not true.

I've already pointed out that there is an issue that is being investigated. Once that is resolved, I am pretty confident things will return to normal, if not better than before.

Then how come this happens every Friday when I am home early to test?

Maybe you should stop going home early on a Friday and work a full day for a change :-P

I am giving them the benefit of the doubt since this is really the first time I am experiencing issues and thus waiting to see if it gets fixed. Luckily you do not have 30 day notice period nonsense with Plugg, so I am more than happy to wait before cancelling at the next billing run.

My connection was fine during the day

*** Total Down: 159.4GB Total Up: 20.05GB

Could it be your suburb/area?

Switched our office Plugg uncapped to a AH capped account and it's flying. Cape Town city bowel.

Hi biometrics

When you say "office" Plugg account, is this a "home" Plugg account used at the office? If it is a normal Plugg home account then one cannot really compare the two, and are maybe expecting too much from it?

This brings me to another conundrum then, regarding the concurrent connections, which are meant to be used by the same account holder in two locations at different times. If one had to do this, ie: use the account during the day and end up moving sufficient data to affect ones star rating, then all that accomplishes is creating a non functional account during the day, making the concurrent option meaningless.

As Janitor says, the extent of the shaping we have been experiencing of late is not normal. I agree, it's not, and I'm sure you can agree, it never used to be this bad.

At the end of the day I don't blame you for ditching Plugg, because this is the ISP's job at the end of the day, to make sure things work consistently.

I still maintain that this is a IPC capacity issue because of all the Mweb hogs that moved since the new throttling policy, and unfortunately it takes so damn long to increase IPC bandwidth and we all know who to thank for that.

I wish ICASA/DOC would ban capped, shaping and IPC and make everything uncapped like 99% of the world. This way, economies of scale will kick in and the network won't fall over everytime apple or windows release updates, or the next GOT gets released :)

I got impatient waiting for the new site so I made a thing.

The two concurrent connections are as you say are intended for one user to use in two locations (for instance at home and at the office). The star rating is dependent on the amount of data used. If the intention is to do heavy download on the line at home it would be best to schedule this between 00:00 and 06:00.

The two concurrent connection adds value for certain customers. If it does not meet your needs you can use one account per connection. Just because we allow two concurrent connections, doesn't mean that you should use it.

Been with Plugg for quite a while but this has become intolerable.

What is the cut off point for cancellation? Going to give Afrihost another bash.
