AKA passthrough charging. AFAIK excess power goes to the device. Once the battery is full, power passes through to the device that is being powered. This should help to prolong the life expectancy of internal batteries.

There is also a benefit to not draining the battery below a certain threshold e.g. below 20%. Batteries (even lithium) do not like being deeply discharged.

Yes. This means the device can also be used as a UPS.

The longetivity thing is that Bluettis' current devices can be used to power and charge at the same time but it's discouraged because it will affect longetivity.

Nope. That's the good thing about Lithium Iron Phosphate. Happy to discharge to the low single digits.
Am surprised at how fast it can charge tho - that's the bad thing about LiFePo, usually.
Very impressed, if it lives up to the claim.

1st its very and I mean very bad to go that low. In some case it even kills the battery
90% you will need special equipment or another power source to wake them again if they go below 20% if that is even possible.

2nd Lithium iron is normally rated 1C so should be normal to "fast" charge vs other chemistries.

Edit. Nvm, see we talking about Lifepo4 here. You can happily discharge NMC to 0 once in a while. It's only an issue if you do it regularly.

Yeah my vape have no issue to goto 4% Then again I only expect 400 cycles out of the battery.

My LFP at home, not so much, bellow 20% and the BMS does a F U and shuts down entire battery. Need to reset on the battery that only works when Its getting power in, else forget about it.

So it seems it depends on the BMS. Some BMS are considered high quality and will protect the batteries while others won't.

But if you check the Cycle report in how to prolong, I linked you will see its bad for the battery regardless of the BMS.

My Bluetti EB70 arrived today. All I've done is charge it, but it's nice to see another unit sit alongside my old Ecoflow Delta 1300, especially since it's Lifepo4. Will report back in a week or so as to how it's holding up.
Got my Bluetti EB3A yesterday..

Half the price (OK almost) of the EB70.. Just did not have the funds to go much higher.

So far. The App is OK (Bluetooth). I made my own adaptor (schuko to Janus). Also put on the Ellies surge protection plug on the input "kettle cord".

Yeah 1000W and triple the watt hours would have been nice. But mainly use this for watching TV during Loadshedding and travel companion / when camping (very compact and light).

EB3A screen does look nicer than EB70 :P.

Yeah Lifepo4 should last many many years (I hope).

I read that people are having issues with the ups functionality on that unit.

Hey, posting this publicly just so people can see. When do the fans on your unit turn on? With my EB70, I charged it and the fans kicked in during charging. I then tested it out during load shedding just using my PC for browsing and stuff (so about 80w) and the fans never turned on. Tried it this morning in Spiderman for a few minutes (so about 180w-200w) and the fans didn't kick in then either.

Was just wondering if this thing has a much higher tolerance for heat and if the fans kick in only under specific circumstances?

Using my Delta the moment you used anything, whether it was a TV at 70w or a PC at 100w the fans kicked in so just wanting to confirm in case my Bluetti is faulty.

(I have also contacted Bluetti themselves, was just wondering if anyone here had any info).

Mosly used the DC 100W output (to charge my phone.. The 45W Samsung charger gave the ghost).

What I like is it shows outputs and inputs. With the USB C cable connected it draws 15W (so fast charging). Top 15W wireless only does about 8W (I have S20+ so need to check specs what fast wireless is capable off). That is without the case. I have a wallet case (driver license and work RFD) and with case on it does 4W only.

Yes quite interesting to see how much stuff "uses". Guess we should all be more energy concoius.

Now about the fans.. Heard it fainoy a bit first time (only time) I charged it (standard profile on the App) As mentioned using mostly DC for now. Will put it in the TV tonight and see how it goes..

App does allow me to switch it off.. Nice then it does not draw ANY "ghost" power at all.

70% last night.. 70% this morning.. #ZeroLoss.

Just press any button and it instantly "lights up".


So far very happy (for my use case).


Next: looking for 200W / 12V solar panel..

Have gotten feedback from Bluetti EB70 owners on Facebook and the general response is "the fans only turn on when needed". This was the most detailed reply I got:

The internal fans are controlled by temperature sensors, not by wattage sensors. They turn on when components on the mainboard or the core battery temperature gets above preset values.
The fan in the charging brick stays on all the time even if it isn’t charging.
 
Getting my Bluetti EB70 tomorrow, mostly just for working from home (laptop and 2nd screen). Hope it's enough to get me through Stage 6 loadshedding!

Should be. Just make sure to charge it between sessions. It's got a +-4 hour charge time (from 0) so definitely not as quick as some other units.
