Portable Power Stations

The Ecoflow works like a bomb, i use about 160w on 55' tv, z5500, 4k chromecast and a unify cube. i can easily run another tv and media player. i was running it and actually busy drilling on tiles in the bathroom with no issues.

i got 2 updates already and tested the slow charging too which takes about 5/6 hours instead of the 1.5 hours for quick charge.

the 2nd battery is not needed as yet, but if stage 6 or higher happens i might add it.

What do you actually do with these units once the battery inevitably dies? Can you swap it out or do you have to buy a brand new unit? Or are they cunningly priced about the same?

You recycle it. Battery cannot be replaced.

Quite possibly you can use it as a solar inverter with pass-through to power devices when you have solar panel connected. There's also a way to connect a 3rd party external battery, but would be limited to around 200W draw and would need to charge it with its own charger.

Just to note that the 800 cycle count is to 80% of capacity. So it will be years before the battery is completely dead.

I’m pretty sure the internal battery can be replaced but you’d have to DIY it, they’d naturally tell you no but they all say that.
To work with the scale of economies most of these units from various different manufacturers will use the same battery form factor and hence you can order the parts from China or eBay. Then again importing li-ion batteries is a real pita..

I just got the question from a friend, and that was my first thought ... no way you get that system at that price
 

EcoFlow River Pro has lots of 18650 batteries, so it should be possible to replace them, but will cost quite a bit in SA​

True, if their battery packs use lithium ion 18650 batteries you could replace it providing you have spot welder , correct size nickel strips etc etc. I have one of those mini spot welders from banggood which I use to replace lithium batteries in my trimmers and make battery packs for my electronic hobbies. But I doubt many people would do a diy unless it's really economical to do so.

Its just I use 18650's on my vape so know they dont last past 2 years.... well you can still use them but you can clearly notice the lack of life in em.
 
Im in market for a unit thats portable has good life and can run following devices :
55" smart tv
Ps5
Pc with 1650 gpu psu prob 500w (never under load not gamed)
32" smart tv + 19" Dell monitor
Router + ONT
3 slots loadshedding daily +7.5hrs

My plan is to add solar to it later as im renting at moment. Once im in perm residence then can add those goodies. So those portable with handles seems better option. I could replace pc with laptop so to lessen the load demand, bt keen to keep monitors powered up. Any suggestions really appreciate help guys. Thnx

May does give time to plan this properly as im still searching for new home as well. Left dbn with limited loadshedding straight into stage 6 lol. Guess for now il have to get the routers sorted so we save on data. Anyways i really appreciate the help. Will look into this model.
