Portugal travel tips

So current itinerary is 6 days in Lisbon longer cause of wife's work. 3 nights in Porto 2 nights Douro valley and last day Coimbra enroute to Lisbon.

Now for the rest of the planning!

Scored big on one of our bookings in the duoro valley

So the place listed on Airbnb for the first time but was listed elsewhere so they had zero reviews but many on their other site.

Believe me I dug round to ensure its legit.

Paid R2700 a night.

Now a month later its booked fully for 3 months 7 5 star reviews already and now R5800 an evening.

Just got back home from a pub quiz at A Fabrica da Picaria, a craft brewery in the heart of the city.

Ok the quiz was messy due to this being the guy's first one, but the craft beers were quite good, and the people we met were a really fun bunch, so we'll be doing this every Wednesday. It's the only English pub quiz we could find in Porto.

Things are hotting up here: it was 26C today in Porto, +-37 in the Aletenjo, and there are raging fires just outside Lisbon
I hope the fires stay away from our family home, its one severe disadvantage in the pine belt. We even have a acre or two of pine forest and cork, fires missed us in recent years.

Our place is down here, South of Coimbra

and you can see pretty decent forest and rural small holds, not even part of a town.

This is the closest village (parish) , < 1500 people .

sorry no English listing on wiki.

Literally all there is , is a house with root from like 1600's and land with orange, apple , cherry and some olive trees. Field in between used to be used for the family to grow basic crops and staples

So flight into Angola was pretty uneventful large plane no complaints.

The airport seemed very very quiet this afternoon.

The lounge is literally a lounge in Angola. You get two tokens with lounge key one for a drink one one for a ham and cheese toasties.

Toasties were good though. It's free it's comfortable not busy all good.

Someone I work with; who stays in the UK is moving to Portugal in two weeks. Her and her husband decided to “try something different “ - they going to rural area I think?

They going there on a nomad visa for a year.

Thinking the 46c heat will be a problem from them maybe.

Random question... do you by any chance know if that one year nomad visa also grants access to the Schengen zone?

I believe so, since the rules state:

As a general rule you may cross any Schengen border with visa issued by any Schengen country.

So that would include temp visas like visitor and remote working ones.

Just checked into airbnb staying in Belem off to find some pastel de nata/belem

Uber cost 10 euro here not bad at all from airport.

Taag was smooth sailing. Any complaints? none.

There were zero delays. Look food on plane wasn't amazing and lounge wasn't amazing but as an air transportation service all good. As they use older planes there was sufficient space wife had her legs crossed I had 10cm to seat. I'm 1.87cm so space was optimal.

Will keep yall posted.
