Project Hulk promotion

Dear 8ta rep

1. I do have coverage in my area according to the map; but only just. If I sign up for the deal and the performance is not desirable (for example too much packet loss or bad signal) can I return it and cancel?
2. If I do have coverage and the performance is satisfactory but in 5 months the network degrades to a point where I can't use it; can I cancel the contract due to the service not working sufficiently? If so what penalty would be applicable.

At the end of the day I am keen on signing up however I have an experience with Cell C where the coverage was there, performance was good; but it degraded to a point where it is now unusable most of the time. However credit to Cell C they have indicated they willeither refund me or freeze my service until the issue is resolved.

Ok so I just got back from siging up to 8ta

Stuck the sim in my B970 and WOOPA the internet is FAST !!!!

Someone pinch me I think im dreaming

Is there any chance of coverage in this area soon ? ie is it worth getting this offer (while it lasts) betting on you improving your coverage in what is a prime area ?

Only in South Africa will one consider signing up to an internet package in the hopes of it working in the future...

+1 on the "Money up front" idea!

CellC did it and they are raking in tons of money, because their market scope is huge

To the 8ta rep:

I went to Sandton City Nashua Mobile and the lady tells me they were not communicated too about any 8ta launch Internet bundle launch, yet the lady at Edgars was so helpful to say that she was instructed to direct all people to Nashua Mobile.

Just to let you know Nashua Mobile does have terrible service, but no fuss :) I shall go to Direct shop tomorrow and get the bundle.

When I do a network search on my mobile phone I get also a 655 2 network. Is that 8ta network? Does that mean Im covered

@8ta Can I add or remove the extra 10gb's at a later stage?

I checked and 65502, SA02 and the 8ta network are all the same thing. If you see 65502 or SA02 when you do a network search, you have an 8ta tower in your area.

The reason you cannot connect to it is that normal Voice and Prepaid SIMS are forced to roam on MTN only.

Is this product available in microsim format? .... Added to this, is the modem micro sim compatible ? I what to use this sim in my iPad 2 and also have the ability to use the modem on my laptop with the sim
We do not have micro SIMs yet, but I will forward your request to our product development team.

So i've got a vodacom sim and a E220 supplied by Vodafone, I did a network search and '65502' came up along with Vodacom, MTN etc. does that mean I'm covered? I ask because the search showed the type of connection as 2G only, and the way I understand it is that '65502' is 8ta's 3G data network?

Please forward me you physical address to [email protected]. I will ask our network section to confirm if you have coverage.

Yes, 10GB Midnight Surfer can be added or removed anytime during the 24 month Internet 5 Promo contract

My post from another thread:

To me it seems something fishy is going on here with this deal. Why would Telkom of all companies undercut the competition? Is it because (as they are Hellkom) try to build up a monopoly in the cellular/wireless broadband field, what's up with the 24-month contract, no explanation on cancellation fees (from their part)...
Why is this deal SO much cheaper than Telkoms own ADSL packages which are MUCH slower (R199 vs +- R400 average ADSL costs)? If these prices are possible, why not slash prices on adsl line rental, etc?
Maybe they want us to change to 8ta from our ADSL just to launch Uncapped for R180 all inclusive and laugh back at our faces pointing to the 24-month duration of the contract. :P
Coming to think of it, they probably launched this offer to drown the complaints and divert attention from the uncapped ADSL, line speed and cost problems.

It's wait and see for me as it is still Telkom we're talking about...
Otherwise this offer seems quite interesting 10gig for that price, no one gave us that much before...
BTW how long does this offer last? If I do change my mind in the near future I don't want it to cost something like R499p/m just because the 2-week promotional period is over.

24 months is like marriage to 8.ta ... But who cares? I used to spend arm and leg on data every month, now I am very happy. Can't wait for all the data on Friday. Don't even need to be up at midnight, my Android will take the night shift and do all the downloading.

The speed is decent though, doesn't compare to Cell C yet.

Eish... think so far 8ta rep is the best amongst all :) Very honest about the product !

@8ta Rep,

I went to Telkom Direct at Cresta yesterday to sign up for the 8ta contract, filled in all the documents and the lady tells me that it should take 30mins to 2hours. So I wait around and then go back to shop only to be told that she will phone me.

I went back in the afternoon around 17h00 and the lady tells me that they have so many applications to process and will call me the next day.

There was a couple seated with an 8ta rep and she was processing all the info same time.

It is already the next day and I have not got a phone call and the cresta telkom direct number is always ringing.

I will send this to the email you provided.
