Projector Screen Alternatives?

This dude sells projector screen material. I asked him for a quote a while back and he quoted me in the region of about R2100 for my screen size if i remember correctly. My cousin bought a few small items from him and he delivered so he seems legit. He can get any size you want. Just give him measurements. Not sure about the quality though.

I'll give him a try... going to make quite a big screen that can be used outside in summer, i.e. project across the pool when the night games are on :)

Quick question- how did you mount yours to the roof? It looks like we have the same ceiling mount... did you just bolt it to the ceiling board?

That would be cool although I think having your projector near the pool is a disaster waiting to happen:p I'm actually curious to see how the maximum screen size would look (300' according to the manual).

I bolted my projector to the beam in the ceiling. 2 of the bolts go through the beam and I made a small frame for the other 2 bolts. I dont think the ceiling board alone is strong enough to support the weight of the projector. I used thick 150mm long bolts and some wing nuts. Took me about 4hours to mount the projector. I had to work under the tiles on my roof to mount it as the ceiling is too narrow on that side.

Dammit... thought you were going to say that... Our roof is about 60cm inside (flat roof), I planned on doing it the way you did, but was hoping for a short cut... cause I need to get into the roof, crawl to beams, measure distance between, crawl back, make support, get back in roof, mount support, mount projector, etc, etc,... it'll take me about a day, because it takes about an hour to crawl to where the projector will be mounted. :(

RE: Pool - we have an outside sitting area near the pool with a support beam across it, I'd put a projector mount there... A good distance from the pool.

If you have a tiled roof, it would be much easier working from under your tiles. My ceiling is probably narrower than yours where my projector is mounted. Also get a second set of hands to help out. Makes things alot easier.

Is your projector bracket a tooless design? Can you clip and unclip your projector without any tools? If you're gonna be moving your projector up and down I'd suggest a bracket like that as its a bit of an effort calibrating the projector on the bracket if you're gonna be moving it around.

Kinda daughnting having 15k hanging by 3 small screws above your head:p

Projector screws into the bracket...although I discovered last night that the bracket doesn't seem to align with the three screws on the projector :( Unless I'm doing something wrong.

Time to look for a new bracket I guess.... money wasted.

Is it a universal bracket? There should be mounting plates that you can align with the holes on your projector.... Mines are straight long plates with a hole running through the center for the screws and the plates gets screwed onto the bracket in the ceiling.

yip - sounds like mine, except I can't get each of the long plates to align with all three screw holes at the same time....

You have to play around with it to get them to align. I think one of the plates on mines covers 2 holes... I'll try taking a pic when I get home.

Xrapidx quick question with regard to sound... Is your PS3 set on bitstream or Linear PCM? I haven't played around much with those settings but noticed that the fancy DTS HD MA and Dolby True HD lights come on my amp when its set to bitstream. They dont come on when its set to PCM. Hence i keep mines set on bitstream because I assume its better to have the amp doing all the processing.

PCM - purely because mine doesn't do bitstream - I'm assuming you have a slim?

Depends on who you ask, but according to many the only difference is with Bitstream the receiver lights come on... I want to use Bitstream :p

Lol the receiver looks much cooler with the lights on.

Exactly, I actually haven't tried BitStream again on my PS3...maybe its been firmware fixed :p

Leaving at 5 to get some support beams and bolts at builders warehouse...want to try this damn mount again.

Ok - not for the life of me can I see how to attach this thing....

Anyone know where I can get a mount ASAP?
