Proline A933L Tablet / keyboard bundle

yah but "Intel Celeron N2805"

i had a celeron laptop almost same as above,it was a pain to use that cpu is USELESS ,the quad 1.3 in the proline/other is alot faster, runs alotsmoother, less lag,and use less power

with the celeron,1080p vids(youtube) lagged like hell, with the proline, smooth as butter
also with tablets u get SSD speed, with small laptop its cheap slow drives that makes it even more a pain to use with that crap cpu

Guess I am not going to win with this one....

Being doing more research though, Saw These

the asus is a great tablet,

the hardrive space, depends on what u will use it for,if u want speed go for the 32/64gb,but 64gb recomended

the 500gb slow, but alot more space

the asus, have a usb port for a external HD, so that can be a way to go 64gb and then a external

3.6k for the asus is a good price :)

as the proline goes for 3.1k no keboard,400 exstra

and the asus, have a faster cpu, think the gpu is clocked faster
and the ram also run faster due to the cpu that is a xx40

was looking at the asus myself, but the proline was 2.5k so could not let that deal go past

onlything i personaly dislike about the Asus TB is the plastic of it looks and feels cheap

edit: just saw http://www.takealot.com/proline-a933l-8-9-3g-wifi-32gb-black-with-keyboard-dock/PLID34167808

not a bad price,

Got my Proline A933L with dock from Takealot withing two days of ordering. Nice and speedy delivery.
Had R100 coupon voucher I received for my birthday and luckily I didn't order it on the 22nd July because the day after that, they reduced the price to R2999 and I got it for R2899 with my coupon code.

Been playing with it and noticed it says 'GPS' but not gps installed. Also went into the settings settings before boot in 'Advanced' settings under 'OS/BOM Configuration' that GPS is disabled. I can enable it by selecting 'BCM4752'.

I had an issue with the some keys not working on the dock but sometimes they did. I really don't want to do a whole return/exchange deal etc.. So on the right hand bottom corner next to the touch pad is where when pressed the keys would work. This is also a place where the connector for the keys are and be VERY careful. I was not able completely open the dock to see if the connector is in properly but due to my checking the keys now work. So some movement of the connector when opening it seems to have helped.

Against my 8 inch Nextbook, the system settings has quite a lot of options.
Going to now leave my Nextbook for Win10 only and not struggle with usb hub/keyboard/etc to run Linux on it.
I can now run Linux via OTG usb and work with the dock.

Speaking of OTG. Under 'Chipset/South Bridge/USB Configuration' I notice 'USB OTG Support' that's set to disable. I have a non OTG usb connector that I'll test to see if it supports OTG without and OTG connector out of the box.

For anyone that has this tablet, DO NOT EVER change the XCHI controller settings under the usb options in the bios!

It renders the micro usb and dock useless and you can't do anything with the tablet!

I sent Proline technical support an mail, not sure if they have a solution. Since it's still under warranty, I'll take it to them if I cant' find any solution to reset the bios to defaults.

Hi Proline Technical Support

I've got a Proline A933L tablet with keyboard dock.

Yesterday, to my own stupidity, I unintentionally disabled both USB configuration settings (XHCI controller, and USB 2.0 (EHCI) controller in the bios.
Is there a way to reset the bios to defaults?

The only one HW buttons combination which work is:
(VOL+)+(VOL-)+POWER... In this combination shortly blink message:
"Entering Dnx mode. Waiting for fastboot command..."

I'm unable to exit fastboot as no usb keyboard works and dock doesn't work either

Currently there is no operating system on the device as I was planning to do a clean Win10 installation from usb.

I already tried many things:
- Connect keyboard with/without USB hub...
- Pressing all possible combination on keyboard...
- Pressing VOL+, VOL-, POWER in all possible combinations...

Results: NOTHING.

It looks like it has an Android boot block. Google "dnx mode waiting for fastboot command" brings many results.

Bring it back, you wanted to do clean installation, so you have no important data on it.

This an Windows tablet, not android. Fastboot is part of UEFI.

Edit:
Correction: Fastboot is part of Android and not UEFI.
My mistake

It's interesting to see the "Entering dnx mode waiting for fastboot command" option when pressing both the vol+/vol- and powering on the device.
It is something to do with Android, but this isn't a dual boot tablet so I've got no idea why that option is even there.

So far, no work from Proline, I doubt my email got though to support, maybe went to their spam folder. I think I'll post the same post on Windows Central blog. I've found a few posts on people with this issue on other tablets and they had to re-flash the bios chip. Since the tablet is still under warranty, I'm not going to open it and take it to Proline on Friday.

It's really stupid that there is no way to reset everything to default or a warning in the bios that states disabling USB 3.0 will disable all usb functionality or have a hardware button to enter the bios like other tablets.

What is dnx mode?

Fastboot is a protocol that can be used to re-flash partitions on your device (update the flash file system in Android devices). It is this small tool that comes with the Android SDK (Software Developer Kit), which is an alternative to the Recovery Mode for doing installations and updates.

I understand that flash ROM is corrupt and BIOS recovery mode is activated. Perhaps you can use the same tool assuming you know exactly what you want and the image file is available.

Nope, nothing is corrupted. There is no operating system to boot from on the device. I removed all partitions from the internal storage. I've done this before and did a clean install of Windows 8 when I got the tablet. The main problem is that because I disabled USB 3.0 support in the bios. USB does not work at all now and the dock uses USB too. So I can't access the bios to re-enable usb.

If device has no CMOS storage, changing the BIOS option will store new settings in the flash segment. When writing operation fails, the all settings get corrupt, triggering flash recovery mode. I think it is in your case.

I managed to contact Proline (Pinnacle Africa) though Facebook, since email to them did not work. Will wait and see if there is a resolution.

Decided to rather drive to Pinnacle Africa in Midrand and see what they say. Tablet booked in. They need to reflash it. So far I'm the only one that's done this sort of thing.
It's always us curious ones that seems to stuff up things :P but that's how we learn ;) and hopefully they can in future products make a combination of buttons to factory reset or enter the bios.

Hopefully it's fixed by Monday.

Hi
