Proteas choke again.... SIGH

Bafana Bafana has more chance to win the world cup than the Proteas.
Yawn.

It all comes down to our management and selectors. No matter how bad our team plays, the same team always gets selected. So it is too be expected that we crash and burn all the time. Only about 6 of our national team are consistent and sadly most of those are bowlers. I've never known national selectors to keep selecting the same middle order batsmen after countless collapses. The warning signs were there but nothing was done about it. So in my humble opinion, it's not the players faults, it's the management of SA cricket as you cannot blame a player who isn't in form and plays badly but keeps getting selected. But yeah, every SA citizen will have an opinion on this poor showing at yet another world cup

Yet again South Africa is able to snatch defeat out of the jaws of victory.

Proteas Friday funeral.
It hurts, but that's cricket and u gotta be strong to watch.
I'll always look foward to proteas in the future...

They played better than we did.... Credit where credit is due.

Yeah, they showed some backbone at about the same time that ours turned to jelly. I don't think that labeling the Proteas as chokers detracts from the Kiwi's performance in any way. Both teams were under the same amount of pressure - they just kept it together when we went to pieces.

once a choker always a choker. i can't believe the amount of money those guys receive for embarrassing us. good thing my 9 yr old son supports England or his heart would've been broken.

I disagree. Vetorri's captaincy was absolutely brilliant compared to Smith's.

Just an example - we had the Kiwis against the ropes in the opening overs thanks to Steyn, so what does Smith do - relieves the pressure by taking Stayn off. Smith went in with a particular gameplan and failed to adapt when we could easily have had them at 40/4. The SA fielders also started looking flat.

The moment Vettori sensed that South Africa were on the back foot he immediately attacked with everything he had. He cranked up the pressure and in the field the Kiwis looked sharp. They were like South African teams in the late 90's and made us work for runs. They gave nothing away. They were incredible with plenty of insane diving saves and a few blinding catches.

When it came to batting the Kiwis were against the ropes at one stage. What did they do? They regrouped, consolidated and stopped taking risks and posted 220 when it didn't even look like 200 was on the cards. That was great thinking.

South Africa lost a few wickets and we imploded completely playing stupid shots and Kallis seemed determined to jog up and down the pitch and was almost run out three or four times.

Also the huge quote in bold on that page : Whenever they lose in the World Cup, everyone always focuses on South Africa's inadequacies. They say you should only take the field when you're 100% fit, but that's not true when you're captain - Daniel Vettori was a mountain for New Zealand today

My word SA, WTF happened?

If anything comes from this, I hope that idiot Graham Smith gets the chop, I am so sick of people shoving stats at me about how good he is, but the oke never performs?? What a twat.

Smith cannot really be blamed for this though...we have a disgustingly good batting line up..and its shocking that we couldnt get it together and chase down what I thought was a reasonable total.
As a captain i dont think smith did anything wrong, but I would have dropped him anyways.

Any way, on to the RWC!!!!

So we played stupid shots, tried to run ourselves out but NZ outplayed us? I dunno seems like we contributed big time to our demise as usual. We do it every time so nothing unusual about us imploding and losing from what should be winning positions.

Nah he can't really be blamed. But I still don't have a clue why he is captain or opening batsman? :wtf:

Because kallis and AB probably prefer to not open. I think thats the only reason, and we have got no other openers.
Im sad for Amla though...He really does have what it takes i think

You guys do know we also chocked under cronje and pollock?? Smith isn't the reason the chocker mentality is around the squad.

Bowlers did their batsmen can't handle pressure, no bmt in this batting lineup.

I got excited.. i started watching cricket again fir the first time in 5 years.

nothing to see.. move along

India ftw now

As an Indian really wanted SA to go through. They like the SA quite a bit in India. What a mess up. Hope Kirsten takes over and makes some changes
