Proteas: Only 5 white players allowed?

But ... But ......

The ANC who are the majority in parliament claim to be a non racist organisation.

The ideals of unity and non-racialism have been cornerstones of the African National Congress since its formation in 1912. The people of South Africa in 1955 called for a South Africa that belongs to all who live in it, black and white.

I am sure they will not agree to this story of classifying people by race and quota on race ......

Yeah right ......

I'm pretty sure if they enforce this, the ICC will suspend the Proteas.

They won't ICC has no backbone to even enforce their own rules. They have let Pakistan and Sri Lanka get away with political interference for years.

Same with their buddies at world rugby. For all their issues we know FIFA would ban them if they tried this crap at football.

What do you propose then if not grass-root level development? The current quota system?

Just play.

There are plenty of non-whites in previously all white schools with all the facilities needed to play rugby.

In fact, I would say there are probably 50 to 60% non whites currently in previously model c schools. There is no excuse any longer.

Stop looking for leg ups.

I think then if only 5/11 players should be white then also only 5/11 white people should support cricket. If they don't want us in there sport, just boycott it. Nothing like a few empty stadiums and all new low dstv figures to make them see there error of there ways. Like any of us white South African's lives are in any way worst if we don't have a cricket team to support.

If CSA wants that cesspool of an organization as a broadcasting partner then good luck to them. Is the SABC going to be able to show live cricket games from the overseas? LOL @ that.

Sure, that is one thing, but I'd like to maximise the amount of exposure to the sport so the country can unearth more talent and challenge for top honours more regularly.

When I was a kid, we used to have a sport called cricket. It was different to the political game of today.

People with great ability and skill played the game and in a sporting fashion, winning was secondary to the enjoyment it brought to player and fan alike.

Yeah right ......

I said from the start they're a bunch of lying scum. the whole FN lot of them, OR Thambo, St Terrorist Mandela...Rainbow nation my @rse. It was all just to softsoap the world, and the fools believed them.

Government enforces quota for 6 black 5 white.

You end up is are two black African, one Indian, 5 whites and 3 colourds in the starting 11. That is exactly the current mix of the team that is currently South African team. Some of our 1 day and 20/20 matches we have played with up to 8 non whites.

If they enforce it in provincial level, I think that's only when some provinces will struggle. But the quotas are only at national level.

Anyone remember the movie 'Invictus'? Yeah. Well this is the opposite. I will rather support a different countries team than these racist policies.

I wish that international sports governing bodies had the balls to stand up against this nonsense

We will have to wait and see.

Sadly the cowards have already said they won't interfere...

‘Targets’ for Proteas: ICC steers clear

Cape Town – World cricket’s governing body, the International Cricket Council, has sidestepped any intervention – at least for the moment – in Cricket South Africa’s plan to implement racial “targets” for national teams.

The policy has previously been curtailed to domestic cricket, but CSA announced last week that its Board of Directors had “approved in principle” the introduction of targets at international level.

Afrikaans Sunday newspaper Rapport then ran a story quoting “sources” as saying that a target of six players of colour for the Proteas had already been discussed among Board members, although CSA responded on Monday dismissing the report as “speculative”.

Implementation of a targets policy for national sides would seemingly fly in the face of stipulations in the ICC’s Anti-Racism Policy, which includes a section reading: “The ICC and all its Members should not at any time offend, insult, humiliate, intimidate, threaten, disparage, vilify or unlawfully discriminate between persons based on their race, religion, culture, colour, descent and/or ethnic origin.”

But the ICC, asked for comment by Sport24 on Monday, reacted on Tuesday through Claire Furlong, their general manager for strategic communications: “Our policy is very much that selection issues are a matter for Member boards so not something we will talk further about.”

South Africa would become unique among the major world powers if it started selecting national teams on criteria other than orthodox “merit”.

In the 22 years since democratic elections in the post-apartheid country, CSA has always previously resisted setting targets at the premier tier of competition, but it is among domestic sports federations under strong pressure from the Government over perceived slow pace of transformation.

15000 Zulu attackers vs 470 Voortrekkers.

Using the above formula, then then 5 white players would be the equivalent of 160 non white.

Of course one has to factor in the injury time of say 0.02 of the white side (so basically a broken nail) and about 30 players from the non white side.

It's all very complicated but it's a rough benchmark I would say.

Shocking, I expected more from them.

If they won't do anything, hopefully other countries will refuse to play against us.
I can't believe other countries will just turn a blind eye against this blatant racism against whites.

Sooner or later it will happen anyway. The top teams in the world wouldn't waste their time playing a 3rd rated team. The best with this scenario is banana-banana , when Brazil come here they're all happy and yeah. Its the Brazil 3rd reserve team. Ansd then SA are happy with a 2-0 loss.
