PS4 vs Xbox One

Only going to buy one this year.

Another factor would also be who is going to offer the best bundles coming the end of the year. I'll definitely consider something with two controllers and a couple of nice games thrown in.

Thing is, regardless of exclusives, the PS4 is outselling the Xbone hard, here and in Europe.

So when it comes to second hand games and trading games with buddies, it would be dumb to get a xbone.

Never mind the fact that the most popular console of a generation invariably becomes the lead platform for multiplat games.

True this.
I already have a decent PC,and a ps4 so to go drop 5k on a xbone for fable, gears, halo is pretty steep! *cry* maybe one day.

You proabbly wont have to, Fable is coming Windows 10 and so is the latest Killer Instinct. They also did a show a demo of Gears Of War running on a Surface Book. Most if not all Microsoft exclusives will be available on Windows 10 eventually

Uncharted, left behind, Little big planet, God of war, killzone, driveclub, bloodbourn, Destiny, infamous, lots.

Xbox has gears of war, halo, forza. Did I miss any? :p

Yes you did, Street Fighter V.

That's only going to be on PS4 and PC. The Final Fantasy VII remake is also on PS4 first (Sony done goofed on not making it completely exclusive). I have both consoles and most (90+%) of the time I'm on ps4. It's a matter of taste OP, try both and see which one you like. Both of them are good.

Also lol at "american kill kill BS".

1) What's wrong with violent games? (80%+ of my games have an 18 rating :p)
2) There are tons of extremely violent Japanese games

Just off the top of my head:
Ninja Gaiden series
Devil May Cry series
The Evil within
Metal Gear Revengeance (Cutting someone in half then grabbing their spine and ripping it out in slo-mo FTMFW!!!)
Resident Evil series
Oneechanbara
etc.

Don't even get me started on stuff Westerners don't typically see like sexual games (on PC) that feature rape, physical and mental torture, paedophilia, bestiality, incest, dismemberment, evisceration, disembowelment etc.

Violent American games are bloody pre-school compared to what Japan has to offer.

I asked this same question a while back I ended up going with the Ps4 (mainly because i got a massive special and got it for R3400 from takealot :p ) but i was leaning more towards the ps4 for one big reason it has a much bigger user base in SA and majority of my friends have a ps4

This doesn't have to turn into another fanboy thread. @Op trust me from personal experience both are great. I just think that for your needs, the XB1 is the better choice since you already have a 360 library, most of which should be backwards compatible soon, and if you're inclined then the kinect will always be better for the kids than the PS camera.

Both have great exclusives that are either out already or still to come so this is a moot point. Cross-plat games are a bit better on PS4 but I honestly can't tell the difference during gameplay...

I agree with Mike :erm:

I have never owned a console. Been a pc gamer all my life. But my pc has not been upgraded in 8 years. :(Marriage and kids do that to you! Two month's ago I was going to buy the PS4 and asked the same question on this forum. XB1 or PS4.

And then Takealot had the Xbox 360 on a good special with Disney Infinity Avengers bundled for basically free. I took the plunge and I must say so far I enjoy my Xbox 360. My kids love it too. Got myself Xbox Live Gold which gives me 4 free games each month. Two XB360 games and two XB1 games. I think that was a brilliant move by Microsoft to make the free XB Live Gold games on XB1 available to XB360 users to add to their future XB1 library. Makes the future upgrade (in another year or two) so much easier. You upgrade and immediately have a lot of games to play from day one. Plus many XB360 games will be playable. Bonus.
Just my 2c.

Yeah I don't have Xbox but the live member's is miles ahead of Sony's stingy ps+

I moved from Xbox360 to PS4 and although I love my PS4 I am contemplating getting an Xbone. Gears are going to be very tempting.

You can't swop games with XBONE. The games come with a key you have to register to your account. You can give a buddy the disc but he has to buy it too to play.

Proof? Sold and bought second hand games for the Xbone.

Not sure where he got that idea, have got a Bone and no keys. I do know cash converters seems to believe this to.

I have to say I do struggle to find second hand games in Cape Town

Yup I normally pick them up from AWX or BT Games :(. Noticed even 360 games are getting less at the two popular second hand shops.
