I want to really play this now, but I don’t think it’s wise to follow a 10/10 (GoT) with another 10/10

Got a call from courier to drop off my copy of GoW: Ragnarok today. Chap was on his way when he had an urgent call from headoffice to say "Stop delivery. Reschedule for Wed".

Report: A PS5 Slim May Be Coming In 2023
The report from The Leak deems it the PS5 Slim, while at the same time noting that their sources are saying that Sony would not actually call it a “slim,” in this case.The Leak, which does have a pretty solid track record for leaks across a number of industries over the course of the past decade, describes the following about the new PS5 that would arrive next year:
- Despite not being branded “slim,” a reduction in size is the main purpose. It uses “die-shrink” treatment to reduce its design.
- It uses less voltage, runs cooler and is in turn more lightweight. This is in addition to internal changes Sony has already made to the PS5 thus far, but those have not been enough to shrink the outer casing of the unit yet.
- Additionally, this new model would try to ditch the awkward stand you have to balance the PS5 on when it lies on its side.
- The main focus is to reduce the size and weight to bring down shipping and productions costs. This would likely replace and phase out the current PS5.
- This is supposed to start being produced in Q2 2023 aiming for Q3 2023 release, so likely next holiday.
Everyone more or less expects some sort of mid-generation re-design of current gen consoles, though this report seems to be going back in time to an era where such a thing was mainly about size, not a mid-gen power increase like we saw with the PS4 Pro, and then the Xbox One X.

So jealous.
I picked up the PS5 + GoW Ragnarok console bundle today.
Honestly, probably a purchase I regret from my first few hours of playtime. Unlike the games I've been playing on Series X, so far all the PS5 games feel like PS4 games. Ragnarok is awesome, as is Forbidden West, but they look like games I should have just purchased for my PS4 Pro.

Unsurprising considering both were designed from the ground up to to be cross-gen.
Anyone else a little surprised about the 10/10 reviews for Ragnarok though? I mean the game is decent (9 hours in), but it's barely an 8/10 in my eyes.
My 1440p 60Hz desktop monitor. I have configured the resolution in the PS5 system settings.
Thanks. Although the console has been underwhelming if I'm honest, I'm still glad I bought it. I feel a lot better about my Series X now. I find the Xbox controller more comfortable, I hugely prefer the use of AA batteries that last much longer and take a few seconds to swap out, the operating system is more intuitive to me etc.
The PS5 will do just fine for playing console exclusives. It's even great for PS4 games, as a bunch have been remastered or optimised to play at 60 fps. And while I prefer the Xbox Series controller over the DualSense, the DualSense is easily more comfortable to me compared to the DualShock 4.
All the installed games show the PS5 logo when hovering over their icons so I assume the correct version is installed. I'm still focusing on God of War, but when I return to Forbidden West I'll reserve judgement for when I'm finally out in the open. Perhaps that's when the visuals can be properly appreciated.
Dunno man, so far Ragnarok is pretty freakin' epic imo. I don't know if I'd say it's better than its predecessor, but I'm having about the same amount of fun with it. It's really, really good. Microsoft desperately needs games like this coming out of its first party studios.

I don’t regret my PS5 purchase ( bought a month ago) but I do agree with your statements. I have a Series S that’s on pause until Callisto Protocol drops but the MS eco system is a lot better.
Couldn’t even get Game Share working on PlayStation properly.
