PS5

Are you perhaps bored?
Perhaps not. Not with these wonderous tales of folks rushing out to buy PS5 Pro's to jailbreak them. Apparently so they can play PS2 games on them, but be locked out of PSN etc.

And being very brave as well, seeing that they wouldn't know what software version the Pro came pre-installed with, and they might not be able to jailbreak at all.

In my defense, the pro I bought is only for jailbreaking, other tinkering and some minor homebrew software development I will be doing myself. Maybe game a little too;

I've been in the JB scene since the PS3 days. I know what I'm doing.

I already have a PC, XBSX, Aus ROG XBOX ALLY X, Anbernic RG406V handheld and a gaming laptop to cater for my daily gaming needs.

Leave people be and let them enjoy things, it's not supposed to affect your life in any way.

Hey, I like a good chuckle. And I won't endorse proud pirates here, so I will politely reject your attempt to censor me.

Sounds to me like you're very disconnected from reality if you think that's all people are doing with hacked examples.

As for buying the consoles w/o knowing which firmware they are on that is easily derived from the model printed on the box: https://www.psdevwiki.com/ps5/Serial_Number_guide

But I suspect you're just shitposting at this point so you carry on.

Sure, pirate :)

Edit: and yes, I am very disconnected from pirates who think stealing other people's intellectual property is ok.

We are in Africa. Retail moves slower. 14.00 only shipped mid September. The chance of a retail ps5 pro on a shelf still sitting under 14.00 is extremely high. Up to last week, I'd say there were 0% Bravery involved. Even more so if you use the links posted earlier to pinpoint an older model on the shelf.

I swear I know you from somewhere

Sure, pirate :)

You can call it stealing, piracy, all you like, but that has never changed how people behave. We pirated everything the light touched as teenagers. Now, rarely if ever. And there’s a strong overlap between what I own today and what I used to pirate. Part of that is just being able to afford it now, sure, but that’s the point: when buying is reasonable, I’d rather buy.

back to reality: I’ll play and mod the games I own however I want. If someone else wants to pirate something, that’s on them. For me it’s simple, as Steam figured out a long time ago: The solution to piracy is to provide a better service. Make it easier to buy a game than to pirate it and I’ll happily keep paying. Sony and friends went the other way, eroding choice and even paywalling backwards compatibility for some games. Now the pendulum is swinging back.

Whatever. Rationalize all you want; I ain't buying what you selling.
