Pupil guns down alleged bully

it might just also be the wrong message to send out as well. sometimes it's a good thing that someone takes a stand but it can have devastating consequences in the long run if other children see it as a way out. we don't want kids to suddenly bring knives, guns or weapons to school to kill the school bully. i despise bullies but i don't wish death upon them as in this case.

And then the bully becomes the employer, black, white or religion-x man. Let us then not be upset at things like marikana since we are supporting solve by killing.

So you expect that kind of organised and well thought out behaviour from kids as young as 10 years old? It's also funny how you're criticising the victims while trying to protect the bullies. Weird.
If we're talking murder, not self defense, then yes I'll critisize the victim. But I was taking no sides in my post.

See how this tune changes when the bully is dead, but was one of their sons or daughters

See how this tune changes when the bully is alive, but one of their sons or daughters hanged themselves.

You can hardly say any bully should be shot ;) How many suicides are there as a direct result of bullying and nothing else?

So I should just go to work and shoot that guy that's been on my case ?

How about coming to your house and killing for the above response ?

This is what you are saying right, let me quickly hop over the fence and murder my neighbour for his loud music or other one for not being my religion or race....

Shoot to solve. Wonderful solution. We will last long.

Then I suppose the discussion could then become "Can this be classified as self defense?" Or even a slightly prolonged version of temporary insanity.

Sure, two wrongs don't make a right and all that, however there are exceptions under which people have gotten off lightly or with no repercussions at all due to extenuating circumstances. I'm arguing that this may be one of them.

As for how many suicides due to bullying, one should be enough to get these kids' guardians and schools to take bullying very seriously.

The two cases where a bullied individual reaches breaking point by either killing themselves or killing the bully are the same to me, and in both cases the victim is the same person: the bullied.

You can kill whomever you want. If you get caught however, you'll have to explain yourself to the courts where you get the opportunity to convince them that your reasons are sound. If you believe they are and you do a good enough job with the convincing, you get off with a lighter sentence or a suspended sentence or even scot-free. Otherwise burn.

Love how pro-bully goes on a tirade trying to convince everyone that the merest slight or irritation is remotely comparable to extended psychological and physical abuse. Good job there

I am certainly not pro-bully, but it is laughable how people think murdering a bully is the right thing to do

We've had bullies in school and kids who have been bullied, and nobody ever shot or stabbed anyone. The bullies usually got six of the best with a salt-water soaked cane ;)

I was bullied a lot by one ********. One day when I went home I decided to find my dad's gun and go shoot the bastar#..

In the end I didn't. To this day it still terrifies me how close I came to killing someone. Because I really wanted to.

It scares me how easy it is to cross that line.

So why didn't you?

I'm not saying murder is the best idea, but it's understandable
Personally I would've just maimed the bastard, though when I was young I was taught to incapacitate enemies in a chokelock till they go down. 4 bullets means this kid was **** scared and wanted to be sure this guy wouldn't hurt him again.

It looks like something that's very hard to understand unless you've experienced it personally or have seen the toll it takes on someone who's close to you (like your child or sibling or best friend). I just hope the kid gets a decent lawyer and the judge applies his or her mind properly. The media attention certainly helps.

Actually I just remembered that my younger brother who's three years younger than me also wanted to shoot some or other bully in primary school. By some incredible stroke of luck my mother went through his bag that morning and saw my father's gun

sometimes it takes a bigger person to confront a bully i.e. someone who knows the kid who's being bullied to take someone to the school and take the bully on. in my case my older daughter was being bullied by one of her peers. it went on and on until one day i went to pick her up and she pointed her out to me. now i don't take NO ONE'S bullying. so i told my daughter to stay in the car and i walked up to this bully and asked her if she was bullying my child and other children in the school? she gave me this sneer, so i said here i am kid take on someone your own size now. she realised i meant business and started running. i gave chase until i caught her by her hair and pulled her down to the ground and then smacked her a few times. she was trying to hit back but i gave her no chance. all the time i was yelling you want to bully my child you going to have to deal with me because no one bullies my child and gets away with it. her friends didn't even come to her rescue. when i was finished i said to her this is your one and only warning stay away from my daughter because my daughter and i are one. from that day onwards my this kid never bullied my daughter again.

Does not compute.... If that bully had been my kid, he would never have become a bully in the first place.
But as I understand it, he lived with his grandmother. Dunno what happened to the parents, so your comparison is not really fair anyway.
He might have been too much for the grandmother to handle, what should she have done?
Anyway, the bully's gone now. so much for him.

A parent can't always control or assure what their children become. Any one who thinks otherwise is fooling themselves. Are you 24.7 with the child and are you controlling 100% of the circumstances? Unless you are god so to say, then... no.

More parents should be like that, and the parents of the bully come to your house you tell them in no uncertain terms what you think of their parenting. ;)

My second-oldest brother was in Std 5 and he was getting bullied, so my oldest brother went to his school in the afternoon, during cricket practice and started sorting out bullies. When the teacher tried to intervene, my brother almost whacked him too. He told the teacher that if anyone ever bullied my other brother again, he'd be back. :D

I know it's harsh - but sometimes you just need the help of someone bigger than the bullies. I suppose a lot of the people being bullied don't have that luxury.

Sure they can. People have been doing it for thousands of years. They cannot control EVERY SINGLE ACTION of their child which is what I think you are talking about.
But they can and do most definitely influence THE TYPE of person that their child will become.

I'm with you on this. You can also see if your child is a cocky bastard from a mile away, and the way he talks to his friends about others, etc etc.

That is what it boils down to. If it's a single working parent that has to rely on the help of caregivers, you can give a bit of leeway, but they should still know what type of person their child is turning out to be and take corrective action.

I had a GF in the UK with a 5 year old son. OMG, he was a naughty, spoilt, little brat. We got quite serious and I decided I wasn't having any of his BS, so I started showing him what dick behaviour gets in return. I was not popular with mommy. :D
