Quadcopter/Drone Thread

Spark, I'd say, but it depends what type of footage you want. Spark has JPEG and 1080p while the Mavic has RAW stills and 4K.

Nope, the good samaritans checked the footage and traced it back to my parents' place.
Good to know that there are good people out there! I just used a label printer and put my name and number on it. "Insurance"

Thanks.

Ja, a nephew flew his Spark here last week. Very nifty. Surely there's something half that size?

I had one of these toys, R800 versions, very small, but then it can’t handle the slightest bit of wind, the DJI drones can atleast handle strong wind only your battery wouldn’t last.

Thanks.

Even if there was I'd still recommend at the Spark / Mavic if you want good pictures. All other drones I've seen are no where near as polished as the DJI products and will end up stuck in a cupboard somewhere.

Ya I need to do that too.

Have you tested out the filters yet?

Toy is a good word to describe non-DJI drones. Fun for a day then forget about them. DJI drones on the other hand are just so capable there is a million things to do.

Thanks, guys. Sage advice.

Where does one buy this stuff in SA? I'm in the Southern Cape, if that makes a diffs.

Orms /Takealot, but shop around. Sometimes the smaller drone stores have specials or you could even check on Gumtree for unwanted gifts etc

I have. I got the smaller economical pack as they call it. Just a polarised, ND8 and ND16.

I tried the 16 on a very sunny day in the Berg. Managed to bring my shutter all the way down to about 1/80 if I remember correctly. Got some good cinematic motion blur.

Received a small camera/video drone for xmas and although my daughters boyfriend and I messed about with it for a short period of time we forgot to turn the video on when it went up but I did get a second of footage of my rug inside the house and some grass outside the house. We will get together sometime and go fly our drones when next we both off.

Members with drones in the Durban area looking for some good content, im in need of assistance.. I have an event on Friday evening if anyone would like to help out.. my drone pilot has a busted propeller and cannot make the fight.

The event is a crime awareness convoy with supercars and bikers leading the convoy followed by security companies and cpfs.

That would technically be illegal. You cannot fly at night or near roads unless you have the relevant permits, and are licensed to do so.

We received permission to use a grounds, closest road was several hundred meters away. Metro and SAPS were present.

Big announcement on the 23rd. Probably Mavic 2

Hi
Can get a mavic pro for about 2k more than the spark flymore combo (both new)
It’s just for occasional use and to fool around a bit
I’m no dronie as you can tell
Which would be the better buy?

Either would be fine. I think the Mavic battery is about the same as two Sparks or just shy, but if you got the Mavic and an extra battery you should be fine.

Thanks, leaning towards the spark.
Does the mavic have the same gesture controls?
Think it's really cool.
