Quadcopter/Drone Thread

Got my drone back yesterday from Uganda's drone jail as I was leaving the country. You might be able to smuggle the new Mavic Mini in via your pocket but anything larger is going to share this closet with a lot (maybe 100+) of other drones.

Whats this all about? Are they just banned in general there?

Yep - banned in general. Kenya too but there I carried it though customs in my pocket. :)

A better idea might be to get a cheap one with a half decent camera and play around with it before dropping a lot of money on an expensive door stop.
It's only an expensive doorstop if the bug don't bite - in that regard it's not surprising this drone thread is in the photography section because that's the biggest money pit of them all!

I've got one of those little mini parrots and it's a real pain in the taxi to fly.

I love flying mine.

That is one of my problems, I have a habit of starting expensive hobbies and not finishing them  I am interested in flying one, the technology and using it for photography.

Spend a little more and get an Air ;)
I'm considering getting a Mavic 2 Pro at a later stage. The Skydio 2 also looks like a cool drone, but I don't know if they will be available locally in the future. I have the Mavic Pro and I like it, but I never take it with me when I travel. The Mini will fit nicely in my camera bag. I was planning on taking it with me when traveling to Armenia this December, but I'm going to stay in Qatar for a few days on my way to Armenia and it would seem that taking a drone with me would lead to complications.

That's just the thing! Drones can produce some incredible aerial footage - as you have shown!

They're more of a photographers tool, rather than a toy these days

I just like flying mine. Sometimes I won’t even take a photo.

Looking for a decent starter drone as a first time flyer found one of these on Takealot, are they any decent or just a waste of money?

Any indication of how long the waiting list is? Or when stock is expected?
I just ordered one from Kameraz as they confirmed they had stock. ORMS shows they have stock, but I never received any communication confirming this. I've been on a waiting list from Outdoor Photo for a while now and was told last week Thursday that they would receive stock that day, but was never contacted again.

Thanks, will give them a call and see if luck is on my side and i can get it still today :)
