Yep it is and so far no cigs. Although I had a few puffs on the fiance's this morning. And I'm sort of planning on cheating soon. I'm bribing myself with the occasional cigarette. I tell myself I can have one if I can go 3 hours without, then after three hours I see if I can last another hour and so forth. I'm going to cave soon.

I walked into Spar just now and was assaulted by a cornacopea of enticing smells of yummy food stuffs all vying for my attention like a bevvy of saucy FHM bikini models who have been stranded on a desert island with no men for years. I haven't experienced that in years. It was awesome.

Finding something worth stopping for, is a great tactic. The return of your sense of smell, not smelling like an ashtray, rediscovering subtle flavours, etc etc.

Ja, thats something I remember from tha last time I tried quitting. I'm in danger of food become a replacement addiction. I've eaten quite a crap load of crisps, chocolates and sweets today and I could still eat.

I'm going to stock up on some healthy snacks.

How is it going, Nick333?

Its going. Woke up in the middle of the night in a cold sweat and this morning I woke up looking forward to the first smoke of the day which of course I can't have.

Sometimes I feel pretty good, other times its sheer hell.

I hope you guys are doing wonderfully with your non-smoking.

Just remember, one puff is enough to start you off again.

The first two weeks are the toughest, but your mind-control is STRONG enough to keep you away from smoking and to achieve your self set goal

The end result is worth it, all the money saved, no smoker's cough, feeling fresh in the morning etc.

We are all rooting for you! but in case you fail:

maybe the mods should put up a poll for us to vote on for our favourite to fail first and so someone with the correct prediction can win some famous branded gear? :)

Sure, profit from my pain. :p

I'll vote for you to fail, Nick. Think of it like this: if you do fail, I win the gear. If you don't fail, you win your health and more pocketmoney.

Win-win!
:D

I've been thinking about this. I could accept bribes.

Day four.

There's no smiley for gripping edge of desk with white fingers and growling every time someone walks past my office. :D ;)

Just joking. Everything is going well. Staying calm so far. Lots of vitamin C helping a lot. I heard the 3 days 3 weeks 3 months story so thought yesterday would be a lot worse.

Good going bud. Day six for me, though I'm prone to cheating so technically Its always day one. :D

Day 3 was definitely the worst for me.

SupaC's and water help, but the water seems to stimulate appetite so you may want to take how much weight you can afford to gain into account.

In fact I'm off to get a pie, chips and chocolate. :D

Go guys, you can do it. If your resolve fails you a little do yourself a calculation such as this:

80 cigs a day=R80 a day=R2400 a month=R3600 before tax and ask yourself the following questions

a) How many hours do I have to work for R3600 a month
b) What could I do with an extra R1900 a month(presuming you only eat R500 extra a month :))
