R149 uncapped mobile data SIM launched

A new company has launched MTN data SIM cards which offer unlimited data for R149 per month.

BTW: MyBroadband ordered one of these SIM cards, and will report back as soon as we receive it.

I'm going to assume that streaming from legit sites like Supersport is also blocked.

"However, there are many blocked services. These include YouTube, porn sites, movie and music downloads, and malicious sites."

That pretty much eliminates 3/4 of the prospective clients

That "blocked list" is going to become longer than Zuma's lying tongue.
I can see a use for it though such as were you want to trickle data over long periods without any OOB surprises (e.g. remote telemetry for weather station).

what about gaming?
such as MMo's etc
wonder if that is blocked as well.

through a special agreement, they are only paying MTN for the SIM card and not for data.
What?
How?
Smells funny...
It's like Telkom charging you for ADSL line but giving free uncapped data account...

In principle I do not have an issue with them blocking what they are but it becomes expensive when you fork out R150 and only then find out that you can do a little more than very basic internet browsing. Why not rate-limit sites like YouTube to allow for only 240p, etc?

Very dodge.

Nowhere on their website do then mention that services are blocked. I wouldn't touch this company with a ten-foot pole.

Ya but also means that this will be usable.

You could still get some nice value from this.... but would work really well on a dual sim device

There's another company doing something similar albeit for R200: Aixo

They mention that it's not suitable for gaming so I will assume that gaming will suffer on Data Sim too.

If not, I will be a guinea pig!

I only use my mobile data for surfing and SS streaming during blackouts or when the SO wants to drag me out of the house during an important game...

what about streaming (upload). Too many questions, not many answers
