R149 uncapped mobile data SIM launched

I see on the application form they just ask for your ID to rica the sim. No proof of address or anything. Seems dodge as well

From their application form:

Restrictions on Sim Card

• Porn websites and malicious sites are blocked by the network. If a customer finds a site that’s blocked and it is not a malicious, porn or streaming site we will unblock it. User can send us an email to [email protected], we will check the site and have it unblocked.

(Note above that they do not mention it in the opening line, but streaming sites are also blocked)

• Users are not able to download movies, music, malicious content but other download permitted.

• You Tube is blocked.

(If Youtube is blocked, so will all other video-related websites also be blocked)

"However, there are many blocked services. These include YouTube, porn sites, movie and music downloads, and malicious sites."

That pretty much eliminates 3/4 of the prospective clients

Yep! Was about to say that the blocked sites are probably the main reasons people would go for such a SIM. So in a nutshell, it's pointless to buy this SIM, as 'great' as it sounds:rolleyes:

However, there are many blocked services. These include YouTube, porn sites, movie and music downloads, and malicious sites.

That is the internet my high school would serve to us :D

Thanks, but no thanks. I am happy with my 20GB Cell C internet.

So unlimited data for doing what exactly? Gaming will not work on this device.....Good luck.

Is this not similar to the way BIS worked on Blackberries? Unlimited browsing, but no youtube etc.?

Anyway, also reminds me of last years R1/GB ADSL :)

They will block sites that use a lot of data.

They will probably just look at the logs every day and block them as they see them... but you can expect all the big ones to be blocked up front, Pornhub, Redtube etc.

Come to think of it... this might be a good idea for a kids phone/tablet.

Excellent idea. If it includes Skype, then I'm in

They use Google Drive for their documents??

Seems like a Home run business. Will keep an eye on the forum for feedback.

hie guys just called this company and the person who answered just said Hello no formalities introductions or what so ever. I thought i had dialed the wrong number. hahahahaha be careful with these guys SERIOUSLY. Spoke to a Sayeed.

How will they know if a site is porn or not?
That's the big question. For me to use it all blocked sites have to be stated upfront. I don't want a site I'm using to be blocked when they figure out I'm using a lot of data on it.

With reports like these, I think common sense prevails, although there will always be some suckers, at this time MyBB being the first.

If Vodacom, MTN, Telkom, Cell C, NeoTel and pretty much all other services providers cannot provide users with truly unlimited data, what makes this company so special and what infrastructure do they have?

Not only here in SA, but this is the norm around the world. No services provider offers unlimited data. Everyone implements a FUP, where users are blocked after consuming 'x' amount of data, or restricted from downloading large files or using certain services.

This is another failure in the making if their T&C's are not openly revealed.
For the same reason my brother buys from the factory and sell for less than they do. It's wholesale pricing. You do have valid points wrt their T&C's.
