Well yeah... You can purchase any modem and use it with your sim. Or purchase a Vodacom one and unlock it.

Why should anyone who wants to connect via mtn prepaid hack sofwares and use phones as modems? What's the real reason mtn modems are not available on prepaid?

Why do you need to hack anything to use your phone as a modem? It's not exactly difficult. I don't understand why people buy those modems in the first place, unless they have junk low end phones.

they use the phone has a modem rather than wasting money o buying a modem when you already have 1

ok so i'd thought i'd be a frikkin sucker and try this out.... Bought the bundle but then spent almost 2 hours not being able to connect, so i'm like wtf i am a sucker... Anyways i finally start going thru all the *141# menus and find an option 'activate bundle'! Wtf???? I buy it and must still activate it????? Anyways so i finally get connected, start browsing. Nice! Speed up to 1.4 mbit/s! Eventually find the adobe photoshop/ camera raw lightroom 2.7 updates to download and all of a sudden i'm going at a snails pace? Wtf! 150 megs so soon? Now i'm stuck download 1/10 of my downloads with an average speed of 110kbits/s (14kbytes/s). Wtf is the point of this service????? At this rate my download manager says my downloads will finish in 23hours which is 4 hours after my 24 hour time..... I'm sorry mtn, you don't get my vote on this one! You tried to be innovative but failed on ur ars! 110kbits/s is barely sufficient for ONE mainly text news site, let alone a decent web 2.0 site!!! Come on! Gimme at least 384kbps or even 512!

No need to hack your phone. Just the modem itself. Well a modem is convinient, as it's built for that specific task. With a mobile, you have to do stuff within the cable's/bluetooth's radius, in order to maintain connectivity. Modem wise, you can leave it and go elsewhere, do this and that. Etc. Just so many advantages. But if you're not a power user, then don't purchase it, some find it v'ry convinient, like me.

Aha they must lower, watch'ma'cal'this? Their data tarrifs. Give us 1GB for R50. Not this 128kbps $hit.

1.2 gigs???? Yes maybe if you have ur pc on all all day but I'm on a laptop which has to goto work and downloads get disconnected and don't want to restart... Point is I wouldn't want to use this for pure downloading but for the odd occassion that I need to spend a lot of time on the web and this just not work for that!
